Re: Enchanted Weapons (and Armor) Growing More Powerful With

Interesting ideas... I think I would introduce a new classification of magic item - one that doesn't start with any powers, but it is sensitive to events where it is present. It's a quality that is imbued when the item is enchanted to adapt to the owner's experiences. So, the item would start out as...

Re: Do you use minis and/or a battle mat?

I use them when combat situations are complicated: weird terrain, lots of opponents (it's one thing to hear you're surrounded, it's another to see it). I generally do not draw dungeons. That takes the place of the mapper, and the party is responsible for not losing their own way. I might draw a room...

So let me get this straight Fiff, you're criticizing our medical system while admitting your father wouldn't be covered back in the states because due to pre-existing condition? Sounds like you already broke your own rules... But I digress, what I meant to tell you is that a hospitals are not made ...

Hey guys, sorry if this post is in the wrong forum. I thought we use to have "forum issue" forum. Anyway, there seems to be limit on "imbedded posts" replying/quoting at 5. Can you increase that to 10 or 15, please? Many thanks, fellows and God Bless us Everyone! Fight on, ye Cr...

Re: Illusionist healing spells

Incidentally, I've been reading the 4th printing again in prep for my new games... The illusionist class, particularly the list of spells, is grating to me to the degree that it's like chewing on aluminum foil. I'd have to completely redo that class if I allowed it. And I generally fall in line with...

Re: Illusionist healing spells

The CKG has a much better rationale for why and how illusionists deal with healing. I wasn't initially a fan, but the new rationale makes it far more acceptable to me for in game use. For this reason alone, I vote to keep it. I don't expect anyone to agree with me, so this is strictly IMO. From the...

Re: More powerful? Really? My saving throw says otherwise.

I never enjoyed the thought of an illusionist until I started to play one. I am playing one in Rigon's Sunday night game. I was blown away by what I could do. Two examples from one session using silent image (or whatever the level one image spell was): 1. My character threw flour over a group of go...

Re: Starting a game, finally! (West End Toronto)

Yep, I'm in Toronto now. Closer to the in-laws for health reasons. And that proximity has proved important as my f-in-law is in the hospital yet again. I'm not at all impressed with any of the doctors I've seen here in Toronto. With only two exceptions (a walk-in doctor and a specialist), every doc...

Re: Gaming Terms: Slang or Definitive?

It has occurred to me that I am guilty of picking up terms and using them prior to really finding out what they mean. Old school for me may mean bee bop music, AD&D, black and white gangster movies, and classic Disney. For someone younger it may mean Dr. Dre, 2E, anime, and smurfs, and for the ...

Re: Dire animals

That description was probably just a holdover from the SRD. I think the whole "dire animals" thing is way overblown anyway. 3.X really warped the concept. It used to involve larger, more prehistoric counterparts of modern animals. Cave bears, worgs, etc. Otherwise the same, just bigger, sm...
