Re: Low Magic?... Sure... but what about no magic

Sides, its not like the real world doesn't have its fair share of the fantastical and inexplicable. It seems counter-intuitive to want to remove such elements from a game setting. To modern sensibilities, removing 'magic' might make sense, but to the mindset of the time folks most try and emulate, m...

Re: Low Magic?... Sure... but what about no magic

Well, that would depend on how you define magic. In one respect, my entire campaign is entirely magic free. But from the perspective of an outside character from a more primitive culture, it would be considered highly magical. Flying airships, extraordinary abilities via applied metaphysics, ect ect...

Re: Dual Wield Rangers and Combat Maurader

I personally have no problem applying the damage to each attack. I expect that people think that players love to be in my game. But my rule of 'the bad guys get it too', tends to dampen the enthusiasm. 8-)

Quite advanced, and runs on elemental powered technology. Interstellar travel is possible via gateways. Something akin to the cartoon Treasure Planet. :)

Re: Saves vs. Magic and their CL

Well, on the one hand, the bad guys are going to get tougher to challenge the party. But on the other hand, its a scarcity issue. Just how many villains do you have around that can match the accomplishments of the characters? The big evil guy should be rare. Meanwhile, the rest of the world has enou...

Its about a 4 point font. I'd reformat the books to put it at a 6-7 but that would also about double the page count of the book.

Re: Aihrdian shopping cities and where to make + weapons, et

Not entirely on point with the original subject, but I'd be inclined to have even a masterwork weapon as part of a larger quest. True mastersmiths ought to be rare, even for non magical weapons. Shouldn't be as easy as looking one up in the yellow parchments. Not just "I want a +1 sword". But perhap...

Re: monotheism in C&C

I did, but I took it one step further. I striped any sort of theism out of my game. At least in one sense. The cleric class, for example, doesn't actually exist in my home brew. What is deemed magic derives from a source based more on research into more advanced methodology of the mind. It could be...

Re: Attribute Generation

A good example of a fantasy character with obviously low scores across the board, but a plucky attitude. Joxer the Mighty. Me. I love playing characters like this. Heroes are all well and good, but side kicks can be a lot more fun if you have the right attitude. :)

Re: Player seeking to have new weapon made in A-series campa

Hey, guys. One of the players in my A-series campaign was playing a halfling paladin, wasn't too happy with playing LG alignment, and ended up making a new character. At least, I was able to have Gritznak the Bold sacrifice him in A0. Anyway, his new character, a lawful evil Knight, is hoping to pu...

Re: Customizing Monsters

Chap named DangerDwarf on these forums came up with an idea that's taken on a pretty universal C&C standard. Or at least lots of folks use it. "Level" the monsters. If you want to make a 4th level orc fighter as your general, for example, he just then becomes a 4HD creature. So he'd have 32 hps. Sam...

Re: Questions about awarding experience points

Did they "defeat" the lammasu or, overcome it in some way? If not, there isn't any XP there. Well, this is really up to the CK. If the characters were aware of it, and managed to get around it its perfectly logical to assign the same XP as attacking and killing it would garner. As for an earlier po...

Actually, this would be the time to wax philosophic about the value of a tactical retreat. But at least your players are being good sports about it. If you can't win, go out in style.:)

Well, I can tell you that most of the class art came from characters from the Airhde setting. The Dwarf is Dolgan. Re: May have a player doing a monk/barbarian multi-class

All of my players in A0:The Rising Knight are level one. A couple of them wish to multi-class. The monk player isn't crazy about his choice and wishes to multi-class with barbarian. Any thoughts. After tonight, I'll know if he's doing that, or if he's just going to scrap the monk, and go with a new...

Peter is correct. I was right about something? Yay me? *wonders what it was?* I was just speculating. Not really one for hard and fast rules myself. Hell, the way I'd run a C&C game would make it almost unrecognisable from the baseline. For example. I have a neat idea for counter-spells. A sp...

Re: Spell resistance rule

Well that's just silly then. First, it goes against the conventions set forth in the rest of the C&C game where every other roll is to equal or better the target number (saving throws, AC, etc). There is no other rule where a number has to be bested in order to succeed. Second, the Trolls corrected...
