Depends on what your definition of "suck" is. If you think of it as a way to spend money to socialize, I'm sure you'll have fun. =)

First I have to learn how to make a GUI in Java. Rest assured, I'm thinking about it. For now, I've got some other things in the queue that I forgot to do while I was making the treasure generator.

d20 fantasy - it had point-buy skills, an advantageous traits system and a unified experience table. What could possibly go wrong?

I do keep track of the XP numbers. They may not necessarily be "right" for the pace of the game, but they do represent that some things ought to be worth a lot and other things worth very little. If I need to slow down XP growth, I just multiply it by some number less than one.

I'm coding up a treasure generator

<r>After getting a little frustrated with rolling up treasure from the M&T, even the itty bitty Type 1 treasures for goblins and evil humans, I decided to start making a treasure generator. It's coded in Java and currently runs on the command line (so you'd have to type in something like "java C...

Due to a lot of technical issues with my real-life friends (who cannot seem to get OpenRPG started) and to draw in more of the existing C&C community (who all swear by Skype and Gametable), I've decided to switch the campaign to Skype text chat with Gametable for the rolls and map.

The official message boards for Classic BattleTech are extremely friendly when you consider that, on a daily basis, people directly insult the latest turns of events yet the official staff try to talk it out reasonably and even endorse fan-written alternate histories.

With luck, WOTC will experience a BattleTech-level backlash and go back to the basics again. Someone tried to pull a similar stunt with the BattleTech franchise and got burned badly, while the "Classic" BT line is still going strong.
