Re: The most powerful monster(s) in C&C.

The most dangerous monster is the same as the most dangerous game: man

Specifically, a fully equipped party of them

Re: Health Update

I think what scares me the most is what kind of terrifying medical test did our friend Treebore endure to measure out all of his blood to quantify the deficit? And not only that, but those pointy heads at the VA are actually measuring it all out in pint jars! Then again, rumour has it Keith Richards...

Re: Health Update

Well, my Doctors have finally found out why I have been feeling so crappy for no apparent reason for the last several weeks. I am missing 3+ Pints of blood. As to why I am missing 3+ Pints of blood, no idea. The usual suspects are not giving any evidence. I am not bleeding in any identifiable way. ...

Please define what you mean by "powerful." It might mean a change in answer. I would saaay... an across the board ability to succeed, turn situations to advantage, be self sufficient, survive, etc. and including overall potential to affect one's environment, etc. A very broad view o' powe...

My understanding is that is where they write the truths that the public is not yet ready to hear. Things like having a class use its main attribute for all checks. Or where all the baby pigeons actually are (hint: it involves aliens).

I have a party to go to, but I should be able to check in a bit late. My plan is to arrive at the end of the last combat for the night, just before the treasure is divided ;)

Re: The most powerful class in C&C.

It is a bit more complicated than my "quadratic wizards" graph would imply. A 1st level wizard is devastatingly powerful. Her sleep spell can wipe out her entire party, and she has multiple uses at 1st level. But, that same powerful wizard can be slain by a mere housecat: http://www.gorbas...

Re: Up for an old school 1st-3rd print game this night, 2/21

This game is sooo much fun. Many, many thanx guys. Great stuff. What I liked this session was the way Kayolan wove a little mini story into the encounter. It's not just an ogre with some goblins. It's a boastful ogre, who's eating some of the mysterious creatures we seek. Maybe he has valuable info...

Re: Up for an old school 1st-3rd print game?

Lots of fun, can't believe you guys did so much in such a short amount of time. The raid on Alfis's hideout was awesomely done. That really was amazing. We did an entire dungeon containing 23 opponents with just three PCs (+ Buttercup ;) ). And it all started with those two sniped arrow shots from ...

Re: Measly shields...

If we wanted to get totally revolutionary we could: 1) switch armour to a damage reduction effect, rather than defense bonus, but at a cost of slowing you down 2) have shields provide a defense bonus, but also have them slow you down 3) change initiative to more of a "shot clock" system li...

Re: Measly shields...

With the way the to hit mechanic is built with only 20 steps on a d20 it is difficult to accomodate the true nature of shields. A fun experiment is to have yourself and a friend put on all white clothing, grease up two broom sticks and whack at each other 20 times. Then do the same thing but with bo...

Know what the best way is? Just decide when its time, based upon whatever criteria you think matters. It is your game, and your world, after all. So such things should occur when you deem them appropriate. So just let us players know such things can occur, then tell a given player if/when it does o...

Re: Monday Night Kingdoms of Kalamar Game

Thinking about the special properties trigger rule a bit further, Rigon, a few ideas. If we apply a flat d1000 to the attempt, it will be pretty rare. If this game goes to 10th level, say 4 sessions (8 weeks) per level. Say we have 8 players and each gets 2 attempts per session. My limited arithmeti...

Not to be too cliche, but to me, the best cover ever for a player's book for a fantasy dungeon delving game is this http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/09/PlayersHandbook8Cover.jpg It has everything. Dark dungeon, stone walls, evil serpentine guardians, flaming braziers, two adventurers discu...
