Re: What non C&C games do you play or run?
I'm only involved with C&C at the moment. My home game has been on hiatus since April due to work emergencies. I am running a C&C play by post over at RPoL that is going well so far. I'd really, really like to take Dungeon World and/or Risus out for a face to face spin, but I need to bring m...

Hey, look who's back! Nah, you're not a troll for pointing out editing issues. You're a troll for refusing to acknowledge the editing in the PHB is vastly better in the 6th printing than the first. That, and saying you are no longer going to buy TLG product, yet you keep coming back here to slam TL...

Re: Kickstarters
Gotta be a troll to point out terrible, terrible editing, right? I never once stated the material was unusable, but I find it troublesome that any sort of legitimate criticism is simply deflected and ignored. No wonder the editing problems persist. Hey, look who's back! Nah, you're not a troll for ...

Re: Nymph as a PC race
Looks workable to me. Whenever I am willing to let a player do something like this I like to pull out the 2E Complete Humanoids book to start with. I Rip Van Winkle'd my way through 2E (and 3E). I was out of RPGs from 1990-2007, so I missed out on all of that juicy 2E material. In this case, my pla...

Nymph as a PC race
I've got a player who wants to play a nymph PC. Here is what we came up with for the racial description: 1. Highest stat has to go to charisma. 2. Charisma must be a prime. 3. +1 to CHA, +1 to DEX, -1 to STR, -1 to CON. 4. Infravision. 5. Languages: Common, nymph, elf, treant, orc, goblin 6. Movemen...

Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?
I've been very busy setting up my C&C PBP game, so my gaming reading has been a bit on the down-low this week. I'm planning a third read-through of the Dungeon World rules once the PBP is up and running. I really want to try Dungeon World out. I received my Savage Worlds: Weird War I kickstarte...

I used an unk wyrm back when I was running Castle Zagyg if I recall correctly. I had forgotten there were mini-adventures or encounters in the Leech Wryms book. I'll have to pull it out again to see what I missed.

I'd like to join in if there's room There is. I'll follow up with a response to your private message at RPoL. I'm surprised (and pleased!) with how fast the game has filled up. I've got 6 requests to join with another possible player interested. I won't be taking any more players beyond the ones wh...

Re: Starting C&C PBP game - Need players
Awesome! I'm hard at work setting up the game. it's taking some time to learn the RPOL interface. At the moment, I'm tweaking the house rules and chargen threads. I hope to have the game ready to accept players by the end of the week. I'll make a post here (and hopefully include a link to the game) ...

Re: Quick Question concerning Class-based NPCs
I'm also an advocate of putting classes on monsters. Bad-to-the-bone Orc out of the M&T can be pretty bland just by increasing +to hit and + to damage. Add on 5 levels of fighter and 5 levels of ranger and that orc has become a dire opponent that scouts for the enemy orc armies. Lookout! ~O Thi...

Re: Worst fantasy movie ...
I seriously LOVED Ice Pirates when I was a kid. I picked it up on DVD a few years ago and rewatched it. That was an excruciating experience. I had the same reaction rewatching Yellowbeard. Childhood me was an idiot with very little taste (although the scene in Yellowbeard where the British officer k...

Starting C&C PBP game - Need players
I've been toying with the idea of running a PBP for a while now. dcfitch's thread was just the kick in the butt I needed to pull the trigger. I plan on running the game on rpol.net. What I need are players. Is anyone interested in playing? I'll put together a more specific sales pitch over the next ...

Re: C&C Play By Post
I've been thinking about trying to run a C&C play by post. I was a player in a Labyrinth Lord PBP a few years ago and enjoyed it quite a bit. I think I participated for about a year, then bowed out when the party was back in town. (Bailing in the middle of the action is just rude.) I liked some ...

Re: Quick Question concerning Class-based NPCs
Just a suggestion: Don't use traditional class-based NPCs. It's too much work as a GM. Instead, treat every NPC like a monster, but give some of them class abilities. For example, instead of statting out a 4th level dwarf fighter, use a 4 HD dwarf that has a +4 BtH specializing in hammer for an extr...
