Re: So whats up?
I hear you guys. You have to remember that the leadership of the Society shifts from time to time, and my good friend John Wright was responsible for really shaking things up in times past. I took over for a bit, but real life now has both of us insanely busy. It's tough, because those of us who wan...

What?!No Arnold accent? Do it again Steve, wearing a wig and sitting cross legged on your desk. Is there going to be another "informative" video coming out soon? The blogs are cool, but I enjoy ol' Steverino rambling about what's going on in the Troll Dens and the occasional guest appearan...

Re: Q/A With the Trolls
I think part of the delay is that Steve is printing the PHB and M&T in the same matte style as the CKG in order to insure the set of books all match. That will be a fine looking set, my friends. I am another one who waited on ordering the CKG when I found out about this set. I may be the only fa...

Re: Myth & Magic RPG
Whats up Tree? Its been a while man. Anyway, the version they put out in September was still pretty faithful to 2e, but the one that was put out in December is the one with crazy changes that veer away from 2e. The Sept. one didn't require being a forum member but the Dec. one does. Of course, now t...

Re: What Games Do You ACTUALLY Play?
I am actually running a C&C Airhde campaign, believe it or not. Just kick started a new campaign with my 16 year old son and his buddies. We a have group of five (soon to be six), and three of them have never played a pen and paper rpg of any kind, and one had played a few times in a 3x game. So...

Myth & Magic RPG
So I meandered over to New Haven Games to take a look at their 2e inspired game. Supposedly it started as the proverbial retroclone, but has since taken the C&C road in that it now sports a fairly cool overhaul. 2e drove me kind of crazy with it's clunky nature, including thaco and so on, so I w...

Airhde Campaign Kickoff!
My 16 year old and four of his buddies (three brand new to rpgs) started a new campaign last night. I spent half the night teaching them how to roll up characters, what the tiny little boxes meant on the character sheet, what primary vs. non-primary stats meant, etc. Explaining class choices, stat b...

Re: Which Game do you DISLIKE the most.....
Also, have you ever had a game you enjoyed playing a lot but hated GMing? Rolemaster is that game for me. I love playing it, but would rather stab myeye with a pencil than run a game. For those who have never played it, there is a "to hit" table for every type of weapon, including differen...

Re: Which Game do you DISLIKE the most.....
While I don't actively dislike any game per se, the ones that irk me the most are the ones that are math intensive. Gurps has been a staple system with my gaming group for twenty years, so you would think I love it; in concept, I do love it. Skill based, roll 3d6 under your skill number, and there y...

Re: What's your order number for the CKG?
My favorite online store (www.superherogameland.com) has now listed even the slipcase set as forthcoming...and I am waiting on that to get my CKG. Now that the CKG is being printed for distribution, how long until the slipcase set? I know there was some talk about the M&T and the PHB being done ...

Re: Anybody else find it hard to get into Aihrde?
I am a huge fan of the setting, but I get bogged down at times like O is saying. But what is a setting supposed to have, and how much is too little, and how much is...well..too much. This all depends on the person, and I believe we had a thread that talked about this earlier. I think there is a lot ...

So that means it's shipping now?I got to check out a hard cover CKG with the new matte finish last week. I've got to tell you cats that the matte finish really makes the cover look great. All of the colors pop and it doesnt subdue finer details like the glossy finish can.

Thanks for clearing it up for me Case. I just had some fun playing out a small battle using the counters that came with the set. Good times. It got my creative juices flowing too, and the epic campaigns that are now possible. I am now teetering between starting a 15mm or 1/72 collection just for FOB,...

Re: Rhu is a MAUKLING. totally BAD ASS MONSTER!
I think the Maukling is so bad ass, I made it a central storyline for last years GenCon mod. "Duplicity of Devils" is actually on Steve's Desk, under the Dr. Pepper cans, being pondered for eventual publication. These devils are great use as Unklars provincial rulers/generals/commanders an...

Re: 25 page sample of the CKG
Graph Paper Madness aside, I took a look-see at the 25 page sample and really dig what I see. Very tempted to get the pdf, but it is a tad too high for my budget this month. If the wait isn't all that long, I will order a perfectbound from my favorite gamestore and hold out for the awesomeness of th...

Re: Q/A With the Trolls
Any chance on fixing the pdf of the CK Screen? The description says the Golden Familiar is included, and the art is by Peter Bradley, but the only thing on the pdf is the four interior panels. I wanted the artwork on the outside as well, because I put these inserts into my Hammerdog customizable scr...

Now that perfect bound is printing, do we have an estimate on how long it will take for our FLGS to get it? I am going to break down and buy a softcover while I wait for the slipcase set.

I like the minimalist approach as well, but I have a horrible addiction to monster books...and look forward to this one. My only question was why the choice of title. No biggie.

Classic Monsters: The Manual
So, I am really looking forward to another monster book. This promises to bring a lot of old school classics to the forefront, and I am all for that. My question, though, is why the choice of title? It's okay, but why not add some more treasure stuff to the book and simply have a Monsters and Treasu...

I know a lot of folks like the tall, portrait screens the best...but I have to say I am a convert to landscape screens...bigtime. Why? Because I like to see the players! For those of us who are a little on the short side, I can't for the life of me see the table on the other side, or reach over it t...

Re: Castle Keepers Guide Update
You know Eric, I actually thought of this (you and I are too much alike). We are going to print the MT and PH for the complete set in house. Which is all good because the PH 4th is actually entering its final life cycle. A 5th printing is in the offing, probably this year. This is good news all aro...

Re: Castle Keepers Guide Update
I prefer the gloss covers, honestly, but it makes little difference to me as long as I get a CKG! Even though I prefer the gloss covers, I would rather see all TLG hardcovers done matte, rather than all of them be gloss and the CKG be the odd man out. I hope for the slip case set, they are all the s...

I understand that there have been some difficulties with the binding process, but still, I feel I have to ask....has anyone got their hardcover CKG yet? and if so, tell us how cool it is, preferrably in the style of a Broadway Musical.

Still paging through the box set. This stuff really is gold. I have been beating myself up that I hadn't looked into this sooner. Not sure why I didn't, but better late than never, eh? Anybody know if a giant map of all 18 maps, complete with hex numbering, exists? I was just comparing the hex crawl...

Re: Fields of Battle Questions
I appreciate your input; I know what you're saying, trust me. I played Warhammer tabletop battles and the rules were very extensive. I had a lot of fun, don't get me wrong, but it was just that, a miniatures war game. We played many an epic campaign for rpgs where we had to skirt around the mass bat...
