<t>I've become a fan of the 'safe and steady' approach for PCs. Max hp at 1st level, 1/2 hit die at 2nd level-and all even levels, 1/2 hit die +1 at all odd levels after 1st.<br/> <br/> This allows for a consistant 'average' for players, while boosting 1st level. If players want to roll for hp's aft...

<t>I agree with Maliki on monsters. An 'elite' monster (ie Goblin King) is 2-3 HD higher than a standard goblin. That ups his BtH, saves, and hp's.<br/> <br/> I've been playing around with allowing characters to heal all hp's above the max 1st level hp's at a rate of 1/tn, similar to subdual damage....

Re: spell books vs. scrolls
gideon_thorne wrote: A scroll is like a one shot magic item. The spell on a scroll is kind of like the trigger to a gun. The spell takes up less space since its simply an enabler to the stored magical energy in the scroll. See, that's where I disagree. According to the PHB, you can copy spells foun...

spell books vs. scrolls
<t>I was comparing scrolls and spell books last night, and noticed something I never realized, and dont really understand:<br/> <br/> According to the PHB (page 47, deciphering spells, and learning and copying spells) there appears to be no difference between deciphering or learning a spell whether ...

Re: Converting Conan d20

<t>While not against a new, revamped version of Star Trek, I have no interest in this movie. <br/> <br/> It is not that they are recasting all the characters, to do a 'before the TOS series. I think doing a 'ST: The Early Years' is not bad if you are trying to reboot the franchise.<br/> <br/> I do n...
