Re: Encumbrance

You are breaking Newton's First law with your "rocket off into space"... I like this kind of this argument (discussion), but don't want to offend, my goal is to be polite and correct where I see errors (mind you I could be wrong too). I don't believe I am in error here, especially as I did some bri...

Re: Sample Deity Description From A Codex?

While in game terms we focus on their divine powers, druids were the professional caste of Celtic society. Sone druids were lawyers while others were physicians. Others were political advisors and lorekeepers. Thus not all druids were priests. Celtic druids would be granted powers from a Celtic deit...

Re: Sample Deity Description From A Codex?

The problem with the DDG is that it focused on game details. You didn't actually get much of the history of the deity. Supplement IV was even worse, being nothing but stats. The Codices, as I understand it, don't focus on game details since deities are more forces of nature than an enemy to be kille...

Re: Sample Deity Description From A Codex?

Ok, so do the rest of the writeups have this level of detail, or are the better known deities granted longer and more detailed writeups? Reason being that Of Gods & Monsters is getting reworked to fall more in line with the codices as well as the Codex of Aihrde, and I need to know how much detail t...

Sample Deity Description From A Codex?

The title of the thread is pretty succinct. Would someone be willing to post an example of a deity writeup from one of the Codices?

@Gringnr: The title is "Star Trek: Adventure Gaming in the Final Frontier". I know you asked Mike if he's seen it. I've seen it, and being a Heritage Models product is designed with their miniatures in mind. In fact, it focuses exclusively on planetside missions, though I'm sure with little effort a...

Yikes. That's unfortunate. Novel concept; a city product that doesn't let you know where things are in the city. I should be thankful I wasn't responsible for cartography in this book. I have a copy of the d20 version in PDF, which I needed to reference while doing the editing for this book. I shou...

Well if it was only weight less it would float into space.... A weightless object would rocket into space due to planetary motion. For example, if a golf ball on Earth were to become weightless that golf ball would appear to rocket away from Earth. Since the Earth is affected by gravity, i.e. it re...

If you want to play under that assumption you are more than welcome to do so. After all it's your game and your rules. With so many different approaches possible on the topic of magic item encumbrance it's easier simply to not get involved and leave it to you guys to decide. And, just for physics re...

Re: Encumbrance

The values for the soft boots, heavy boots and shoes are all resonable. The soft boots are like moccasins in that they don't have a hard sole, which is why the soft boots have an EV of 0 versus the EV 1 of the heavy boots and shoes. The leggings are rather large, and while you can roll them up, thei...

Re: Adventurer's Backpacks - EV ratings

For the record, here is the PHB rule on capacity objects. Items that are designed to carry and redistribute the weight and bulk of other items are called Capacity Items. Capacity Items can carry a number of items equal to their Capacity. Furthermore, a Capacity Item cannot carry any item whose EV is...

The best design system is the one in Classic Traveller Book 2, and at least one person out on the web expanded it* to allow for the construction of larger ships. Starship design systems in post-Classic Traveller completely eradicate any semblance of simplicity in favor of appealing to a niche audien...

I don't track changes to the various printings and never have. Errata is what I did, and to an extent I will still do it, especially where it may be critical (see my signature). Other than error correction the only real changes to the PHB are the revision to the barbarian, the addition of illusionis...

I'm not a huge fan of Drupal, and I could instantly tell that the KotC forums uses it - which is pretty sad on my part. The problem I have with Drupal in general is I believe it to be extremely basic and no-frills. At least the KotC site has the most common features in the text box available at a pu...

*cheap plug*

Take a look at Star Trek: Alpha Quadrant (link in my sig). That's the port of FASA Trek to Cepheus Engine I was talking about. Sadly, there are no fusion Klingons to be found, but that was a deliberate choice on my part. I wanted to be reasonably close to canon.

Pity I can't visit to listen. My browser keeps getting redirected to ad sites, which Ublock keeps blocking. That said, FASA Trek was the first RPG I purchased with my own funds. The parents purchased AD&D books for me prior to that. FASA Trek was released in a time period when Paramount wasn't terri...

Chiming in late here, but TNE does not use the same system found in the other Traveller games. It instead uses GDW's "House System" which is essentially the game mechanics from Twilight 2000. Virus aside, TNE's other big issue was in changing certain aspects of the universe to fit the mechanics. For...

It depends upon whether you use th...

Post which class you are adopting. No harm in taking more than one, or taking ones other people looked at. Just seeing that everything has been looked at by someone besides Traveller and the Trolls. Just to clarify something, I've not seen the Adventurer's backpack at all. At this point in time I'm...

As we all know, no book is ever perfect. And while the 3rd print of M&ToA is vastly improved from the original printings, there were still some things that got missed. Fortunately, I don't consider these game breaking but nevertheless, here we are. Please note that spelling and minor grammar errors ...

OT: Chromatic and Platinum Dragons

This is an update of conversion work I did in 2006, on Dragonsfoot. They are based on the AD&D versions of the creatures, but the hit points were tripled. Since the C&C red dragon had slightly more than triple the hit dice of the AD&D variant tripling the hit points seemed fair. Updates to the write...

Dragons and I have a long history in this game, dating all the way back to the beginning. No, I didn't push for them to be able to add their full amount of HD as an attack bonus, but did feel that they weren't fearsome enough. The problem is the random nature of die rolls. It's entirely possible - a...

I don't limit it in number of times per day, I limit its frequency. I have them breathe every 2 to 5 rounds. IE 1d4+1 rnds. Re: Late / Early - New Monster - Gobblen [related to Turkey

How much XP you award is up to you. In your case you don't award XP for treasure and have compensated for it by increasing the base value of the XP award. That's perfectly fine and I have no problem with it. My providing "by the book" XP values doesn't mean I object to how you choose to award XP, so...
