Re: Listen Check...Class Skill?
I am strict to the rule: I add level to the class skill, if you check a skill of another class you don't add your level. Period. I have elaborated a skill system on my own but it is only a developement of the basic system presented in the PHB and the free form of the CKG. One day or another I will p...

Re: Questions about the use of non-class abilities
The CKG says that, when making a SEIGE test based on another class's ability (such as a fighter using Move Silently), you don't add your level to the check. Does this mean at low levels it is possible for the 1st level fighter with a prime DEX of 18 (total bonus +9) will be better at moving silentl...

Re: creating unusual magical item
well, probably this is the first case in your forum that someone answers a question 3 years ago. well 3 years ago I didn't play C&C yet and furthermore I am very punctilious. This morning I am browsering about cost of magic items. From another post that was about similar things, I learn that the...

a thinner, more refined point."

Re: stupid question
Thank u: in my last session, my players asked me "but what is a gourd?" and I said "honestly I don't know". I hate to do that. My players must think I know all and never try to catch me flatfooted.

equipment list on the PHB pag45: what the hell is gord? I have searched for a translation for it on wordreference and dicios, but nothing came out. then I seek on wikipedia but what came out, has no sense to me: a name of person, the rogue created by EGG, a gastric desease and the word god crippled ...

Re: xp reward for magic items
I think that would work just fine, doom. I'd probably make it 10 sessions, were it me, but 20 would work well, too. Kind of like a bonding process I have thought of giving less xp for nore sessions because I hope the PCs shall find themselves in a situation like this: "must I go on fighting wi...

Re: xp reward for magic items
hey lord dynel, I think that ,if I apply my new method, the pc need more sessions than three before they get the full xp from the item: every session the pc uses the item, he gets a 1/20 pf xp for the next level. these xps are subtracted from the total xps of the item.

Re: xp reward for magic items
well, when I played, long time ago, as a DM with D&D BECMI (aka Mentzer ed), I was used to give the full value of xp of the magic item to the character who sells it. This brought to strange episode in game: a PC after an adventure in a dungeon, dound a very powerful magic sword. I thought he was...

xp reward for magic items
Hi to all. I am curious to know how do you CKs handle it. Do you allow a xp reward for the user of the magic item and, again, a reward when he/she will sell it? Do you allow a full reward or only partial? Or do you give xp only when the PC sells the magic item? And in what percentage? Somewhere (I t...

Re: first session and a question (about light)
thanx for your answers. I'll go with an hour for the torch and 4 hours for the lantern. I love keeping track of time but I do it only in dungeons, when there are adventures in the city I don't bother so much with time: I let the character do 3-4 things in the morning, 3 or four in the evening and 2 ...

first session and a question (about light)
Yesterday was my first session of cking C&C. It was a great success: we were playing at the rising knight and there were some very fun moments.
A question arose: how much time do oil for lantern and torch burn? I didn't find it anywhere and am I right saying I must houserule it?

Re: Castles and Crusades new edition?
no thanx. I appreciate very much the idea behind printings: you don't have to upgrade to the new edition, each printing only rectifies the errors of the previous editions. For sure, I think, Vth ed of D&D will try to conquest the heart (and the money) of many grognards: The reprinting of AD&...

Re: Run away! Run away! Morale for monsters/creatures
thanx Serleran. I love monsters morale in my games. I think perhaps your house rule is too heavy for me. I have slightly change it: I keep the usual siege engine check as stated in CKG then I have added the "when to test" and the modifiers to the CL of the CKG (not all) to the "when t...

Re: Declaration of actions
thanx Lord dynel, I think the same as u. probably I'll make the declaration phase at the beginning only for the actions that makes sense to be declared: spella, parry e combat focus (or what the hell is its name!)

Declaration of actions
I am interested in the phase of declaration of actions before the initiative. In the other rpgs I have played, I never used it. But now I am inclined to use it. Do you bother the players with "narrow" declaration (that is: attack, whom? move, where? and so on) or do you use the "wide&...

Thank u, Serleran for having answered to my question in the Keeper advice section. I have reread the comeliness on UA and now it makes more sense to me. Beauty
hi to all. I've got questions that puzzles me after i have read about beauty in the CKG. I like very much this, but I don't fully understand how does it works. 1)there is a short description on pag 13, left column, stating that beauty is not an attribute on which you can do active test of attribute....
