Windows Computer setup advice and Virus Removal advice
I wrote up the following by way of response to a few queries I have gotten lately via email and forum user PMs. I hope you find it helpful. I was a computer repair tech for around 5 years and have since moved on to being a senior systems administrator with a focus on virtualization systems (Citrix a...

Re: New computer advice
If you dont like the weird default interface of win 8, you can remedy that with various free apps such as this one at (http://www.classicshell.net/). Windows 8 isnt bad once you get used to it. It took me months to warm to it and it will never be win7 to me, but its a serviceable OS. Learn to use th...

Not looking good for me right now. Work has locked down the entire month of August for a major rollout of a new software suite for our enterprise environment. Unless they publish more targeted dates, the whole month is shot as far as time off goes.

Re: Dragon age on tabletop
On the PC games: DA: Origins was one of the best CRPGs ever IMO. Awesome, awesome game. Dragon Age 2 was.... the opposite of awesome for me. Sadly, this colored my interpretation of the tabletop RPG and I never gave it a real shot.

Re: What RPG's have you actually played?
Given the 12 hour minimum stipulation, surprisingly few:
OD&D
AD&D 1e
AD&D 2e
Classic D&D
C&C
WFRP1e
WFRP2e
Dark Heresy
Savage Worlds
Top Secret/SI
Gamma World
Star Frontiers
Think that's about it, considering a 12 hour minimum play-time.

Kindle Fire does as well as most arm-based dual core processor android devices. You can make it much smoother by purchasing EZPDF for android devices. It is the best of breed of pdf readers on android, IMO. I have read 200 meg RPG PDFs on my Asus Transformer with few issues. Yes, it's not as fast as...

My kindle paperwhite will be here tomorrow according to amazon. I have had a sony prs505, a nook color, an asus transformer prime and now a Dell XPS 12 tablet/ultrabook hybrid. I have read books from each and every one. My personal findings are that, for just reading books, there is nothing at all (...

Download an app called "Calibre" and it will convert between multiple formats and even natively supports both platforms for ebook management. It's an awesome (and free) app that works on Mac, PC, and Linux. Without this app, my ebook addiction would not be as rampant as it is today

Re: 1st edition AD&D Reprints - my thoughts
We used segments with weapon speed factors and casting times. It was a lot of fun as I recall, but in retrospect I cant determine whether it really added anything to the combat. Still, I would use segments if I ever ran an AD&D game again.

Cumberbatch is awesome^3. If you have not, please go watch at least two episodes of BBC's Sherlock (not the somewhat lackluster American "Elementary" plz and thx). It will showcase the awesomeness of Cumberbatch and Freeman, both of whom are in the new Hobbit movies. PS- if, by some strang...
