Re: Rhu's Sunday ~ Scandia, The Last Druid/Gaxmoor

Thx for the corrections. Fact remains: as a monster, it is far more powerful than the original version. And that is just the combat behaviour. I didn't mention the special death throes attack. EDIT: That was my first experience with a flesh crawler. I really liked our encounter and I always apprecia...

Re: Rhu's Sunday ~ Scandia, The Last Druid/Gaxmoor

Wow. The C&C flesh crawler is a much scarier monster than the AD&D carrion crawler. AC: 13 (for the body) in AD&D vs 17 in C&C Behaviour: tentacle attack which if successful will lead to a bite the next turn vs 8 attacks per round all of which can cause paralysis in C&C Damage: p...

Re: Rappan Athuk

So cinematic! Lovely write-up. EDIT: Amable does remember predicting that greed was certain to lead to the death of someone. Orcs prefer to live lightly. Since he likes and trusts Anele's unassuming ways he decides to ask the cleric for a boon. "Should I die I trust you to do right with my body...

Thanks for saying! That quest is doomed of course so his story is necessarily tragic. But he isn't dead yet and I'd like to keep him for as long as possible.

Re: Rappan Athuk

One difference: we might have the advantage of having the whole party. His abilities would guarantee a challenging and interesting fight. We would have to be clever to outwit him. Not caring about any of my characters dying. In this kind of dungeon death is to be expected. I do look forward to playi...

Re: Rappan Athuk

Change made, thanks for the suggestion! So, I am usually just trying to record what Josh and each person says, since this started out as just plain note taking and has been morphing into something else, something very cool in my opinion. Almost exactly like we are telling a story. I have said it be...

Amable, of course, wouldn't know any of that. He wasn't even aware that Zee left the group ...

All he saw was the wizard who normally hangs back was suddenly at his side and did something amazing.

Re: Rappan Athuk

Thanks for the recap! Amable is still a little stunned that that cautious wizard was suddenly so powerful. He assumed he was going to die and is grateful to be alive. His fickle player had already started looking for replacement goblin pictures as he took one hit after another ... (haha) LOVED Josh'...

Re: [Save for Half Podcast] What's YOUR Top 5?

I love reading or hearing well thought reviews of pop culture items. Why do we discuss literature, film or any art form? This kind of conversation can be simply about evaluating a consumer good. Is it worth my time? But great criticism includes so much more: who we are as people; how we experience o...

Re: Bladerunner 2049

Love Blade Runner. It makes a lot more sense if you read the source material, as there are a lot of seemingly offhanded comments in the movie that are given context in the book. Veeeerrrrrrrryyyyyyy skeptical of the new movie. But, I liked Tron: Legacy, so maybe there's hope for this one as well. N...

Re: Bladerunner 2049

Ok so I realize this will be like blasphemy but I'm not really looking forward to this. I didn't really like the original all that much. It made a great screen saver -- visually really interesting -- but as a film it just had all kinds of problems. I hope the sequel will be better but the trailer le...

Re: Rhu's Sunday ~ Scandia, The Last Druid

And I got pretty excited because when I read the level 2 druid spells I saw Summon Swarm. I think you know we live with bees in real life and I could really picture that action! If a level 3 is out of the question then I might as well stick with Thimbleberry. Eusebius, the High Druid has certainly ...
