Looks interesting. I might have to add it to my never-ending list of gaming stuff to buy.

I have one of those, too, Lord Dynel.

A few things arrived today:

Castle Thrax (a DM-less dungeon module in a similar vein to Tunnels and Trolls solo dungeons)

The Lost Abbey of Calthonwey (a generic / universal adventure published in 1979)

Creature Creation (a system for randomly creating monsters, complete with descriptions, eating habits, and the like -- intended for the UK so pretty obscure in the US)

Ah, yeah, I remember that one. Pretty good crawl, IIRC. Probably haven't seen that one in 20 years. Incidentially, I passed on one a while back on eBay. Pretty good, though.

GURPS High Tech (4e): This is a nice looking book I already had in the earlier editions but I wanted one that was hardbound.

This book considers "high tech" what any character from C&C would call high tech. Including muskets, cannons, uzis, and recoiless rifles. For the sci-fi "high tech" that stuff is in GURPS Ultra-Tech.

One neat thing they did was the chapters have different colored margins so you can flip to the section you want by looking at the ends of the pages.

I had to order I1 Vakhund:Into the Unknown from Noble Kight.com since it seems to be out of print. It is currently on sale there for either 25% or 30% off, depending on which condition you select. I got the EX one so it was 30% off. The 25% was for Mint/NM.

That was the book I was originally at the FLGS to try and get. Since they didnt have it and couldnt tell me when it was coming in I got the GURPS book.

Crossing my fingers for better luck next month.

Hehe...maybe!

He probably sent the Trolls thousands of dollars with the note "I want the first copy...tell me when the money runs out" attached. Pretty good strategy, if you ask me.

Lesiurely reading thru Rolemaster Express quite an interesting read and descent system so far. I may even get a chance to try a game this evening.

Also still reading thru Twilight 2013 character creation Stage III rules.

Next up in the hopper is the new White Dwarf issue highlighting the Imperial Guard. Then I'll re-look at Mediterrian Cruise and the Last Submarine Modules for Twilight 2000 which I scored at The Hobbit game shop in Faytteville, NC for $3 a piece.

Nothing wrong with a little Greyhawk. That's been my preferred campaign setting for many years. Not one I always played, mind you, but one I usually wanted to play.

I've been poerusing the Middle-Earth Role Playing Game boxed set I picked up about a week ago. Pretty interesting stuff.

For CnC:

Pirates Guide to Freeport (the sans rules setting guide)

The CnC rules companion to aforementioned Pirates Guide

The 5th anniverary editon of the Freeport trilogy.

Seriously, CnC and Freeport are making some of my best rpg sessions EVAR! (I have to add some of the players are great assets to the game.)

Gaming in general:

Hard Nova ][, a scifi mini rpg game, about 74 pages

genreDiversion 3E manual (the Hard Nova rules blown out into a full rpg system)

Yeah... I've read most of the RoleMaster Express book. Last night I tried to roll up a character. Right now this best sums up how I'm feeling now.

Wow, and I thought my previous $200 per month was addictive! Dude, you must make the bucks! I'm currently paying a mortgage and rent because I moved and can't sell my house. Gone are those spending sprees of yore for me. I'm envious.

I know the feeling. I have been paying 2 mortgages for 3 years now. A person might be able to buy it, but they haven't been approved yet. Fortunately the other house has been reliably rented most of these 3 years. I would have been bankrupt over 2 years ago if it hadn't.

3 years? Ouch, Treebore. Yeah, we are teetering toward that bankruptcy you mention, so we are going to be renting ours out, as well. I still have two more trips to the old house to get my stuff out and get it ready for renters. It's been an ordeal to say the least.

Geez. Believe it or not, I'm in the same boat as you, Tree. We're coming up on three years as well. Renting it out has slowed the bleeding somewhat. Ugh.

And here I thought Serleran was a pirate that kept raiding RPG merchant boats off the coast of Africa.

You've been buying them?!?!?!

My main turn off was the art.
Pros:

For $5, you can't beat what you get. It's not perfect, but there's enough meat to get the ball rolling. While the format is supposed to be "pick up and play" there's more toolkit vs. game rules with scenario going on. The setting didn't stand out for me.

I'm also surpised by how some of the Gimmicks just work all the time, no rolls ... Like Constituion makes one immune to toxins, infections and drugs. But then again the game looks fairly deadly. I'd stick to the basic rules, or better yet, use the new rules in the generic 3rd edition product ($7)

Cons:

- Things could be spelled out more for a novice GM, i.e. a scenario calls for pirates, but doesn't provide stats for them, just what races they are ... but earlier in the PDF they mention "Extras," which are NPC mooks. While old hands would put 2 and 2 togther, it never explicitly says "use the Extra rules for the pirates in this fight."

- One race looks unbalanced, but they're supposed to be geneticaly improved

But I also spent $7 for the generic 3rd Edition rules and I'm pretty happy for what my $11 got.

Lots of optional rules (roll under or over a target number, various ways to do combat) and two settings, and two sets of supernatural powers.

Basically, if it ain't CnC, I want to give these rules a spin really bad.

Ugh. It seems like I hate Monty Python more and more with each passing year. I dimly remember finding it okay back in the late 80s, but now I just want to kill everyone involved.

I picked up GURPS Conan from (get this) ... a comic book convention. I've been to Planet Comicon several times now (and others in the area) but besides Guardians of Order's The Authority sourcebook rarely are gamebooks found.

And to top it off. This gem was marked half off original cover price (which was 1989 dollars).
