I'm not reading anything at the moment. I'm trying to figure out what I want to read. But those Best of Dragon Vols. I & II sound like a pretty good idea, Benoist!

I was wondering what that book was like. Now, I know to not bother.

Otherwise, I've been reading Heroic Worlds which is less a book about gaming and more about pre-90s RPG history. It is not wholly complete, but a damn fine resource for those interested in the weird. Also, there are some severe biases... but, that's not too bad.

There were also some good chapters on those 2E settings that were interesting for those of us that never played that version.

I knew about Ravenloft and al-qadim but really didn't know a darn thing about Spelljammer or Planescape or those others.

So I'm glad I got the cheap softcover on eBay and REALLY glad I didn't buy the hardcover for beaucoup bucks when it came out in 2004.

Yes! I got Heroic Worlds for this past Christmas and I love it. So nostalgic. And there was a pretty good "story of" rpgs in there, too.

Just picked up CONAN Role Playing Game 2nd Edition, Players Guide to Hyboria and Bestiary of the Hyborian Age (all Mongoose 2nd edition). I loved the original, but it had it's problems. They were a great price, so I thought I'd pick up the new stuff. Would LOVE to run a successful campaign using these books one day.

Not a huge fan of d20 but the Conan game is one that might get me to overcome that. I've been eyeballing it for awhile and am sorely, sorely tempted.

I was also checking out the miniatures that go with the game - some of them, if not most, were pretty darn cool looking. This could be a little rough on the wallet!

Rereading select portions of the 1E PHB and DMG for use in Frank Mentzer's game (yes, I am name dropping and, yes, I am doing it because Frank's game is even more awesome than you think it is!). I'm falling in love with 1E all over again. 1E has some warts, but it got a lot of things right.

Oh, I'm also reading the batch of back Crusader issues I picked up in the 5/10 sale. I'm especially happy to see that Gary's series describing how it all began was able to be published to conclusion. When Gary passed I was very sad (in small part) because I thought the series would never be finished. When I'm done with them, I'll start digging into the TLG A series of modules.

I'm reading both the Swords and Wizardry core and white box rules as well as looking over my OD&D pdf's.

Ditto on Myth Drannor. Its the backdrop of my Skype c&c Wednesday game. Game Session 19 tomorrow. Had a player get his skull crushed last week by a dire rhino, was not pleasant
