Role-Playing Mastery, by Gary Gygax

A very well-balanced and centrist view on things

They are pretty much all there, since PF had to stay pretty compatible. They cleaned up some rules a bit, like Grapple, consolidating some skills to shorten the list bloat, etc... but the rules bloat as the game goes up in level is still there, so high level play can still bog down and require software programs to manage, etc.... I would have to read through again to be sure, but I beleive they also modified AoO's to be less of a head ache.

I believe the post-Beta version of grapple to be just as complicated as the D&D3.5 they were trying to make less byzantine. From what I've followed on the Paizo boards it picked up a lot of sub-rules that were not present during playtest.

Just did a quick look-over of Cthulhutech. Basically, it's Cthulhu meets Evangelion meets Xenosaga meets a lot of other things.

Also did a quick look-over of Eclipse Phase. I think I just might use Eclipse Phase's rules as the basis for any roleplaying-intensive sci-fi game I will ever run in the future. Don't care much for the setting, though.

I picked up the Pocket Edition Ultimate Power for Mutants & Masterminds. This book's original edition is a full-size hardback but is sold out so bad Noble Knights and Amazon can only sell it for over $100 a copy. Ewww!

So Green Ronin put out this pocket sized edition (it fits into a cargo sized pocket, like other "digest" sized books). I didnt let it sell out on me again. LoL

And besides, we didnt get everyone together to play C&C last week like we wanted to (illness and other reasons) so the few of us that showed up had a one-shot M&M game that was pretty fun and we used the new UP book.

Knights of the Dinner Table #154.

This one has a nifty feature article for equipment prices. It has pages of all the "little stuff" you usually dont see available in the PHB General Stores. Bolts of Cloth and a wide variety of produce. It is a follow-up for KenzerCo's Hackmaster Basic game they just put out but the currency system is the same as C&C/D&D/LL/OSRIC/PfRPG.

Kinda neat if you ever wanted a list like that already made and convenient.

.45 Adventures and it's "narrative" system.

Basically it's a skirmish/scenario miniatures set. Between two books, it's Mordenheim/Necromunda for Pulp action.

Cool.

That may have been because I suspect GW had some serious problems with their hardcovers back in the day. All my GW hardback books have splits running along the binding and front/back covers. Even the ones I barely used. WH40K, Judge Dredd, WHFRP ... well, thats all the ones I had that split on me. But that was also the only hardbacks I had from GW from that day, too.

Very, very cool. I had this years ago... and it has been lost or taken... not sure. That's a very good find at a store.

Just picked up a bunch of Palladium stuff from the Christmas Surprise Package deal they got going on.

Currently I am devouring Mysteris of Magic ~ Book One: The HEart of Magic. This book deals with many of the technicalities of the Palladium Fantasy magic system, as well as recvisits many of the ideas from the core Palladium Fantasy RPG. But this book goes into great detail about those concecpts/histories and fully fleshes out some of that original material for a deeper understanding of magic in the Palladium Fantasy RPG. And what Palladium book would be without more OCCs (Occupational Character Classes), spells, powers, weapons, etc. This book certainly has all of that stuff.

Great read so far.

That started already?!

I'm reading Knights of the Dinner Table: Bundle of Trouble vol.5. It reprints all the comics from issues 12-15 w/o all the other articles and bits.

I like the other articles and stuff but this is a better way to catch up on all the issues I missed.

Don't know if it counts as gaming stuff, but just went through Empowered, by Adam Warren...

Hey, after all they have T-Shirts like "STR 18(00)" or a space station called "d10" because it's d10 shaped in there... aaaaand they manage to discuss Hit Dice when considering a "Fire Elemental" vilain !

And, apart from the bondage-kink they recurrently display, i think this comic books actually ROCK, there's a whole bunch of stuff to consider when running a Supers game allright, my humble opinion !

Just read through all of my original Gamma World boxed sets over the last two days. I sure do wish I had some people interested in a GW campaign.

Picked up some stuff at Con on the Cob, but have not yet found a place to store it, so it is in a pile of need-to-read. I'm starting with the two Blood Bowl Annuals I found and the New Seattle sourcebook for Shadowrun, since that has been on my list for a long time.

[Edit]

In case anyone was curious what I got while there:

Nyambe: African Adventures (d20)

Behind the Rose: A Fantasy Adventure (AD&D / Sage Lore Productions)

Paranoia 1st Edition Box Set

Bestiary of Loerem (d20)

High Tech and Low Life: The Art of Shadowrun

Shadow Knight (Amber Diceless)

New Seattle (Shadowrun)

Blood Bowl Annual 2002

Blood Bowl Annual 2003

Central Casting: Dungeons (AD&D)

T&T Solo Adventure Set Summer Special #2 (Tunnels & Trolls)

The T&T item is in shrink and contains 8 modules and a fantasy bumper sticker... ooooo.

I started reading through the old 2e Al-Qadim source book last night. I always loved that setting, BITD. Picked up this copy and two supplements at Half Price Books a few months ago. Just grabbed another supp at Con on the Cob, and spent the plane ride home plotting a C&C conversion.

Maybe I'll put together something for the Thursday Night Irregulars? Not sure that I have the time or energy to run a full campaign.

Seeing all the casting news about the "Game of Thrones" pilot (shooting begins next month in Ireland!) prompted me to pick up the Green Ronin "Song of Ice & Fire Roleplaying" on PDF. That's currently filling in for novel-reading as well at the moment.

Can't wait for the HBO series A Song of Fire & Ice. Should be awesome, but I hope they are planning on filming more than just a pilot episode/movie? Frickin'-A this series has been in the works for YEARS! HBO even came out and said this was another tentpole series for the cable network and would have a budget in line with the Rome series (that's $100,000,000)!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For gaming stuff that I am reading, currently I am reading DragonLance: Tales of the Lance ~ World Book of Ansalon. This is from the 2E DragonLance box set. Reading up on it to get ready for an eventual Age of Might campaign that I am hoping to run before I take a dirt nap.

Omote - last word I've seen from GRRM on his Livejournal is that the pilot was greenlit but the series had not been yet. I may have missed something though.

I don't subscribe to HBO but if they pick this series up I'll start.
