WTF?

Are we under attack by the Russians, or something, that I'm starting to see threads popping up in Cyrillic on the new posts page? Please tell me I'm hallucinating, or are the new servers being spammed?

We have instituted a new policy wherein only admins can let folks in when they register. Unfortunately, it falls upon us admins to be vigilant when authorizing these folks. My policy is to do a whois on the IP of the potential user and check their email addy and username for red flags. I have also IP banned several users and blocks of spammer IPs. When a new user registers, an email goes to all admins of this board. If even one of us accidentally clicks "authorize" without checking it out first, you now have a spammer that has access to post. We are doing our best, but we will improve as our methods become standardized. Til then, bear with us.
Edit: And yes, we are now a primary target of spam bots. I personally rejected around 30 or so spammers over just this last weekend. The new captcha settings have made things much better, but again, improvement will occur over time.

My forum got the same spam. Fortunately we have a rule that all posts must be in English so we caught it early. One of the staff did translate it and it was just a bunch of unconnected words.
I think it was just a random spam, no one trying to sell anything.
