Thankfully, I've never found myself in this situation. These guys usually have some good stuff, though, if you haven't read them before.

I think the guy went a bit over the top about the GM part...but his main point was extremely valid. A friend I gamed with on a regular basis treated his firearms like toys. He accidently shot and killed himself in front of a group of his friends while pretending to shoot himself in the head with his pistol. Wayne was 21.
Gotta echo this some. Use pictures, not weapons, for props.

wow, guns are not quite so commonplace in australia, luckily so maybe my reaction is skewed but no, if a guy brings out a gun at the table either he needs to lock it back up or I am out of there.

We have a guy in our gaming group who is a walking arsenal. From time to time he likes to come to the gaming table to show off his new hardware. Luckily he is very experienced, and would never use the weapon as a prop, but none-the-less, it is unnerving to our few gamers who are not gun owners.
But the guy who does use his weapon at the table for simple props, or LARP or whatever, is a total A-hole.

Sometimes I like to pistolwhip my players into submission when they're being ornery. I think AGNKim still has the baseplate of one of my .45 mags embedded in his skull but in my defense, he did chop some of my fingers off with a kitchen knife. If he had properly sharpened and maintained the knife, it would not have been dull and hurt so much. The lesson here is that you should always keep your knives sharp. Oh, and retrieve your baseplates when they break off on someones skullio.

Natural Selection is a biological process where those best suited to adapt and survive do.
Unfortunately for man, we have artificial means which has separated us from many basic natural processes but biology has a way of making itself hard to ignore.
Though I believe many negative attitudes towards guns are both naive and unconstitutional, anyone using a gun as a prop in game or as a toy is only serving to feed the irrational fear and anti gun sentiment.
As a gun owner and rights advocate I would find it my responsibility to use an old hickory up side his head. Its the few idiots that do us all a disservice.
Just call me Mr. Natural Selection!
