Highlander the Remake

Post by Go0gleplex »

Apparently they are planning a remake of the (cult classic IMO) movie Highlander. While no information on casting or potential casting has been released, they did release the name of the screenwriter for the movie.

I can see the trainwreck this has the potential of becoming already...

The screenwriter they've chosen is the same lady whom penned the Twilight *gag* movies. Maybe we can get the Kurgan to deal with her first...

The reason I thought this may be of interest is that I've seen the Highlander spawn more than a few characters, game scenarios, etc., including a characer or two I did myself back in ages past and figured others whom appreciated the movie may have done the same. :geek:

Quick note, the Highlander remake has been in the works for years now. It's another one of those if I see it I'll beleive it things. Next, the woman who is in charge of redrafting a script of a new Highland franchise (whose name escapes me at the moment) has been doing genre stuff in movies and TV for like 20 years. She was hired on the Twilight Saga for good reason; her films make money because it draws in crowds. Of course, the proof is in the pudding. ;)

Well they are definately going to have to find another Scotsman to play Ramirez- Ewan McGregor?

And they need a weird voice for the lead...

Her name is Stephanie something. If Twilight is an example of her "good" movie scripts...it really shows how gullible our youth and other folks are these days. Then again...I thought Twilight was trash to begin with.

The fact that it was in the works for so long is a bit of a surprise. Sounds like they may have actually got a bite on it if they are willing to commit to writing a script.

The guy that was in the runnin last December to play the Highlander was scot actor Kevin McKidd (Rome, some doctor TV show). He a good actor, and plays period pieces quite well. Not that charming though, but I don't watch said doctor show.

They need another scot to play the same Spaniard? Hell, maybe they'll actually get a SPANIARD this time to play Ramirez ;)

Too bad Antonio Banderas is getting too old.

I could never accept a real spanish Ramirez!
My brother and I still fall about laughing about Connery playing a fellow called Ramirez and use it as code- "my name is Ramirez" in your best Connery voice lets your companions know something is up/odd.

Same here. The obvious non-spanishness added to Ramirez's mystery.

Really? I would think that an older appearing mentor figure would be a good thing. And let's face it, he would certainly look younger that Sean Connery did when he was cast for the role. ;)
