Expeditious Retreat PDF sale...

Post by Treebore »

"Today is Expeditious Retreat Press's 8th Anniversary! 8 years ago we release the PDF of A Magical Medieval Society: Western Europe. To celebrate, we've put all our PDFs up for sale at 50% off at all of the sites that sell our products: Your Games Now, e23, Rpgnow, and Paizo. The sale lasts the remainder of March.

Thanks for 8 years!"

Lots of great old school and 3E stuff from these folks. I highly recommend pretty much all of it, with few exceptions.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Yeah. Have a couple of their books and have found them very detailed, well thought out, and an overall excellent resource. Very worth the $$

Yeah, I wish they'd do a conversion of their 1-on-1 adventures for C&C, my conversions take too long, but I suppose it's too much to hope given that they are already 3.5 and 4e D&D.

I'm really trying to control my impulse game spending. Is there anything here that is really, truly extra spiffy?

The one that really stood out among the three I have is "A Magical Society: Silk Road" which deals with trade and trade goods. I didn't see it on their site as a book but RPGNow has it in PDF for a decent price.

If you dig Monster Books, their Monster Geographica books are pretty good. They each contain 200 monsters. Plus Expeditious Retreat is very OGL friendly.

Darnit, I already have all that stuff

But all their "Magical Society" books are definitely must-haves for anyone who isn't some kind of medieval history professor. It helps that the books are specifically written for gamers, so it's a much smoother and more fun experience to read these books than something like Wikipedia or an actual textbook.

Agreed. I have the original and am considering picking up the new edition, considering this sale.

+1 on that, I like all the Magical society stuff, but silk road is top notch.
