Buying Things Twice but Still Only Having Them Once

Last night at the gaming store, I picked up the 2e Complete Book of Gnomes and Halflings for $4. Now I know these books get slagged a fair amount, but I had this book once, but a player nicked it many years ago (not that I could prove it, but since he was the only one playing a halfling and he routinely borrowed books...). So, in the interest in regaining what was once in my possession, I bought it when I saw it in the used bin at the gaming store.
So, what products have you had to buy again to replace stolen or lost copies?

Just lost the module that came with the AD&D 2nd edition DM screen, but I never bought it back (it was terrible, anyway!)
Then, I gave the module "Feast of Goblyns" to a friend, who reduced it in a really sorry state (spots, cuts etc.) I felt terribly, since I hold all of my books in pristine conditions. In any case, I did not buy it back, nor I asked him for the money or the module; but I did not give him anything more

Never had to replace anything stolen or lost, and I had a ton of non role playing stuff stolen from me at one point...
But, I have replaced items I sold, such as my entire collection of AD&D hardbacks. I sold them when 2d Edition came out, and regretted it. Fortunately, buying them all didn't cost me much.

The original 'red box' for D&D.
I lent it to a friend of mine in high school who wanted to learn to play the game. 2 weeks later he tells me his mom tossed it in the garbage because it is 'EVIL'
I never could find another copy so I went and got the AD&D books instead. Recently however, I've been searching EBAY for all sorts of goodies, the red box would be welcome but not at to high a price!
Other than that, I don't seem to have 2 of anything, unless I consider buying the 3.0 books just weeks before the 3.5 came out. Now I own both sets.

I lost an entire 1st ed collection several years back (all of the hardbacks and several modules, supplements, notes, etc.) when my basement was flooded with sewage.
It was a combination of ebay purchases and donations from people who were no longer playing that allowed me to gather it all up again.

2E PHB, I lost all the copies I had at my house (at least 5) sometime after 3E was released. I have all my other 2E books, but can not find a single PHB, I have no idea what happened to them. I finally found a used copy at my FLGS for 2 bucks and scooped it up.

I've had to do this a bunch of times (probably like 5 or so times).
The ones that I can remember are:
2E Player's Handbook
1E Manual of the Planes
Mentzer Companion
Mentzer Expert
and a few other things of non D&D origin.
I had my stuff stolen in college and had a firends car broekn into that had my stuff in it. I ruined my 2E PHB.

I don't remember ever having anything stolen, the only things I've lost were burned in a house fire several years ago, almost all of my Dungeon and Dragon Magazines, and a variety of 1E and 2E books. None of which I replaced.

You must be kidding me... Have she ever attempted to exorcise her TV set to ward out the "bad things" it contains?

"Rationale" is not a word easily used to describe such people. If you pointed that out to her she would either have made up some excuse to justify it, or smashed it with a sledge hammer and throw it in the trash.
Besides, she was probably acting on something her preacher told her about D&D.

Someone jacked my copy of the D&D Rules Cyclopedia several years ago and I was forced to buy another copy. I think that's the only one I've had to buy twice.

I actually purchased all of the AD&D 1st ed. 6 times. Ironically I don't own them anymore either.
5 times was for having many copies since I ran 1 to 2 games daily at the time. (I had several gaming groups for a total of 68 players that I DM for.) My books fell apart like dry leaves. The 6th time was when one of my ex-girl friends destroyed the books, the same thing happened with my last series but with another girl. Oh the days. I also own 2 Codex of Erde. (Which the trolls sent me the extra one by error? I still have that one and it's still wrapped by the way, in case the trolls want it back!)

I bought two copies of the C&C PHB (both 2nd printing) and the M&T simply to have a set of unused copies... should something REALLY bad happen to my 'gaming set'. Once again, I knew a lot of hands would be flipping through the PHB and I'd be lugging around those two books a lot.
Of course, now that I have two copies, nothing terrible will probably happen to the first set since I've got my backups...

My entire 2e collection was sold off when my group broke up and playing was dead. I have gained it back and then some. The irony on this is: Since discovering C&C and getting some 1e stuff I really don't like 2e anymore...
