Heroes of Might and MAgic series...

Post by Treebore »

GOG.com has the whole thing on sale this weekend for $30.. I've never played it, but I did play Might and Magic up through number VI. So is this worth getting? I seem to remember people loving it.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.
Sounds obvious to me! -Gm Michael

Yeah, I like 'em. Just be aware that while M&M was a CRPG, Heroes of Might & Magic is a turn based combat game as well as a resource gathering game. You control a Hero that is in charge of an army. Your army will fight other armies and take over towns. The towns are where you build structures that you use to make your army more powerful. Your Hero does 'level up', but nothing like an RPG game.

I love the originals, before they turned into micro war-games, but the settings and lore are still cool and I'll sometimes fire one up just to look over the items again.

Just another tip: IMHO, the games ramped up to HoMM3 then started back down. HoMM6 is horrible. HoMM3 is probably the best of the bunch.
