This is a great video...I've shown it before, but like to bring it out from time to time. it pretty much sums up my view of the way the world works
warning: the following videa contains brutal inter species violence.

Wow, that video looks like battle royale of lions and hyenas, with the occasional, unfortunate, zebra.

Watching this, I wonder if the entire peice was filmed during the same event... i.e. the SAME battle royale that lasted until nightfall.

This is off a national geographic show. I've seen it but can't remember the sequence of events. I don't think its the same night, but its definately the same pride vrs. pack. I seem to remember that the one lioness, that's sitting in a hole in the middle of the film, broke her leg and died later. Needless to say those hyenas died.

I love that lion's attack...no hesitation, once he's committed he utterly vanquishes his foe.

In an interesting side note, I was watching a special on water buffaloes the other day and three bulls found several baby lions hidden in a patch of weeds. The bulls stomped at least one of the baby's to death. Talk about first strike!

The animal kingdom is one brutal arena.

This video led me to a bunch of others, must notably this one: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 8675&hl=en

Holy Moley! I'm half tempted to pay the $3 to watch all three minutes. I'm afraid what else got caught on tape.

Haha, this is darn funny. Before I had my daughter, screaming kids used to set my nerves on edge and just rip my world to shreads. But after having one and having kid parties and nephews and kid friends over, I'm now oblivious to kids screaming (unless it's one of those "Kid is really hurt" type screams). I just sit there and smile (and have another drink!).

yes, its sorta funny how quickly one learns to differentiate between the hurt scream and the "i want something" scream.

I do keep some earplugs handy though.

hahaha That's the way to do it. I have three of them running about and half the shouts of pain are greeted with "Uh? Can you walk over here so I can look at it?"

Kids are great.

Lions and tigers!! Now they are just cool. I wonder if that tiger got the elephant driver, sure looked like it.

Never appreciated either beast until I looked at some of these videos. They are HUGE and poweful beyond what we imagine. Imagine what a dragon would be like.

Indeed. If tigers could fly. To me, that might be the beginning. Genetically engineering tigers to fly; that might be the beginning of dragons!

[I very much like how Anne McCaffrey dealt with the beginning of dragons in her Pern series. Just a very interesting and more scientifically plausible idea than others.

[Hehe, besides riding with Paul "Mua'dib" Atreidies on a giant sandworm, I would very much like to go a dragon riding with Lessa and F'nor. Or maybe, impress my own copper/bronze!!!]

If it were possible I would definitely prefer to impress my own.

I think I could pass on riding the Sandworms, though. I would rather travel on one of the space ships.
