I GOT A JOB!!!!
I may be a bit excited but it all worked out so well! A couple days ago My brother in law called me saying they needed help at the machine shop where he works. So I go in and was hired on the spot as a CNC operator/programmer.
Here's the kicker, I only have limited experiance but always wanted to break into it. So as of yesterday I'm working again after almost a year off at a job that is easy going and that I can learn quite a bit at. I also programmed my first part today and the simiulation worked. I'll know on teusday if it runs right in the machine.
Just had to share!

Those are such awesome programs. I used to teach the 1996 software.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Command and Control software, tells machines what to do. How to fabricate items, such as you may have seen in that "chopper" show on TV. I have an uncle who has been actually doing that job for over 25 years. Pretty cool stuff. If I had moved to OH instead of AZ I would have been working with my Uncle for the last year. Instead I have become a small time farmer.
Had new baby goats last night, BTW. Two cute little females. I'll be posting about it when my wife gets the pics uploaded.

Sweet, congradulations.
Do you think you could program me to work more efficiently?

Maybe I'll see if my other program works first.

I was impressed I got the shape right on the first one I did. It only took about 5 hours to get that far and another 2 and a half to get the errors out of the tool path.(add in the cigs I burned up trying this, I sound like Solid Snake this morning ) Won't know if it works in the machine until tuesday but even if it doesn't I'm excited to see what my first program does.
BTW we're using Mazak machines which does make the programming easier.

I just found out today that I'll be starting with second client in a week or so. Puts me over 40 for the week, but I'm not complaining as I've only averaged 30 hours per week since school started back up. Bigger paychecks are always better.
