I hear its a good book, but when i hear the phrase classic monsters i think of orcs, goblins, dragons and various other original type monsters. What kind of monsters are in the classic monsters book?

You heard right. It's a great book. It's mostly creatures from Fiend Folio and Monster Manual II. Check out the forum link for more, but pick up this great book afterwards.

It also has some creatures from the original AD&D MM like the Ear Seeker, Behir plus others

It even has some new, original monsters.
Thanks for the kind words, gentlemen.

Stephen gives me a nickel each time I plug a book, Kim. I'm up two $2.25 this year alone.

I use Classic Monsters at least as much as I use Monsters & Treasure. Never too many monsters to choose from and it's often helpful to find critters off the beaten path that can still take long-term players of RPGs by surprise.

Consider it the MMII and/or Fiend Folio for C&C. Or if you want a more updated comparison it would be the Tome of Horrors for C&C.

My fav is when some joker leaves a pair of ear muffs at a roadside shrine during winter. The ear muffs have an earseeker inside.

Had a guy loan me a book full of bookworms. I paid him back by giving him a Coke with a throat leech in it.

I don't regret getting any of TLG's monster books, but Classic Monsters, when combined with the M&T, certainly makes it even easier to do "official" conversions of the older modules, since the book gives us many more of the monsters we typically see in those modules.
