Lemme see, I started about 89 or 90 (we'll say 90) so next year will be my 25th year in the hobby.

Heh, the only reason I have a solid date is because I have a character sheet from 1985 showing the date I created that character. I know I played for a few months before that, but I just go with May being my anniversary month. March is far more likely. Doubt it was as early as February.

Started with war gaming ('76- something similar to micro armor, which were the miniatures being used) before RPGs ('77- 3 white booklets D&D). So my gaming age is 38.

I started in 82 when my brother got the magenta basic set and ran me and our neighbor through a small dungeon. I then bought my very own first RPG product in 83 when the Mentzer red box came out. Good times!!

I should think late 82 or early 83 for me. Honestly can't remember which game was first. Remember some Gamma World 2nd edition at one acquaintance's house. Another friend had the Moldvay basic. I remember perusing the Hell out of that. Did we actually play a session? Can't say for sure. I certainly have memories of the guys playing Star Frontiers at the middle school library, and Expedition to the Barrier Peaks. Good ol' Mrs. Farrar. She was nice and patient, but I think once or twice the group got booted for noise. That's a far cry from Mrs. Tanks (a nickname) at the jr. high. She heard the skitter of polyhedrons on the table, and that was that. I don't think it was a stand against gaming, but probably being overly worried about noise. I do recall some gaming at school (middle and jr. high primarily). James Bond, Champions, and perhaps a few others. Most of our rp'ing was off campus. I don't remember if we ever played at our high school. Definitely some classic Avalon Hill games in hs geometry class. Circus Maximus, chief among them! Somewhere in the 31-32 year range when I started gaming, I guess. Of course, I was 1 or 2 years old at the time. Riiiight.

Yeah, I wish I had started when I was younger, but I didn't start until a few months after I went into the Navy. (about 7 months, going by the May date.)

I started with 1E AD&D, but a week later I was playing Paladium Fantasy, with a GM named Kent Small. Which is why I think I have so many RPG's, I started playing a variety pretty much from day 1.

I often kind of wish I was a "Gamer Snob" and was only dedicated to 1 RPG, because it would have saved me many thousands of dollars if I was.

Next summer will be my 24th year playing RPGs. I started plying the summer between my junior and senior year of high school.

I began gaming with a classmate in January 1981 during recess indoors from the snow. This sparked my gaming with my brother (and many others) until a 10-year hiatus began in the summer of 1990 when I went away to college.

In the summer of 2000, my brother returned from the USMC and we began again, playing from 2000 - 2007 when my first wife died. Around 2006, I started playing with my older son (now 12) and have since. While I did not play much from 2005 - 2007, I champed at the bit to try C&C which Peter Bradley and EGG recommended/"sold" to me on the EN World boards. I visited the first of three Troll Lord Games forums in '05 and have been here since. Upon remarrying, life kept me away from the forums for a bit (2011-2013) and I fiddled with other systems before settling once again on C&C for my gaming wants/needs.

I now have two campaigns going (one small and one bigger) with the possibility of a third with another group from our old neighborhood. I don't want to overcommit, so I will start slow with that until my son's hockey season is in full swing(!).

I would say I have gamed for 23 of the last 33 years. It's been a blast and being able to tell others of the hobby, tell Mr. EGG how much it's been appreciated, & meet Steve Chenault at All Things Fun! are my highlights.

Yeah, I started gaming thirtyish years ago, though I can't say I have been gaming constantly for all of those years; I took some time off here and there. I had a lot of fun as a kid but I think my best games have been in the past few years, though some of those games are with the same old rules.

Over 30 years since I started as well. But I took a loooooong break in the middle. I was out of the hobby for about 20 years there. Maybe more like 15. There were stretches where I played very, very rarely, but periodically bought RPG stuff.

My gaming has been pretty much constant. I think the longest break I took was about 6 months. due to moving cross country, etc... Typically, I was involved in 2 games per week, and for the last few years I've been in 4 to 5 games per week, running or playing. Heck, even when I was in Vegas, I still played in all but one of the games. Scheduling is key.

I'll be going into year 30 in a month or so. Hard to believe. I better make a save vs. illusion.

At least online no one has to make a save vs. dragon breath.

My friends and I played at various games (some started earlier than I) from 82-89 (middle-high school). Maybe not 24-7, but a lot. In college, a couple of my friends all but pulled out for awhile. Even my gaming cooled a bit from 1990-ish to sometime in 1996 (?). That said I still remember some 2E D&D, Shadowrun 2nd, etc., not to mention Axis and Allies, and Monopoly. My full return to gaming was in 96. D&D 2.5 had been out for awhile. I latched on to that and many other games. I had the good fortune to be wearing a KISS t-shirt at a comic and gaming store that year. A young kid who was maybe 13 said he was a KISS fan as well. Gaming eventually came up. It turns out he, and his brother also played D&D. His brother was in his last year of high school, and had cut his teeth on D&D 2E, Rifts, and Shadrowrun 2nd. I'm still friends with the guy today. Hard to believe he's in his early 30's now. We'll still get in a board game or two on a semi-regular basis.

I had my 30th anniversary last year sometime (in the spring I think). I am running a game online and the oldest player is 27 (and that is my daughter!). Not a single player was alive when I started. They constantly kid me about being old. It's sobering, but pretty cool as well.

Ha, I'm turning 50 next month! I"m getting back to regular exercise, man-oh-man, that helps you feel younger than you are!

I still have a couple of years to go, but with my disabilities, I have felt like I am in my 60's for a long time now. Having a regular exercise regimen does help. Plus, having lived 20 years longer than I should have (I had a 93% chance of dying) and then only having a 3 in 10,000 chance of living again in 2000, plus a myriad of other "life threatening" issues I have lived through, thankfully I do not experience the typical "Mid life crisis" stuff. I'm too grateful to be alive to mourn the loss of my youth.

I'm glad you're still with us, Tree. On the topic of mourning the loss of youth, it's still hard not to. Other than my kids, some newer friends, new opportunities, etc., I'd go back to the 70's and 80's in a heartbeat.

Yeah, I came up with a simple mantra when I started going through everything back in 1992, "Its better than being dead." For me, that includes growing old. Otherwise, I imagine it would be much harder for me to deal with as well.

Yeah...2 years to the half century mark for me as well. Looks like my ulcerated wound finally healed so I can start thinking about swimming for exercise once I have some extra money for the pool. Legs and feet are toast so the whole walking, running, biking thing is no joy for me anymore.

Dealt with a few of those over the years as well. Hopefully never again. I can walk, but I cannot do the rest, including swimming, which is what I miss most of all. I used to live in the water when I was young and healthy. Well, not literally, but as much as I could manage.

Wow. I've got some nagging problems that keep me from running much (which I love), but it's nothing like what some of you are going through. Fortunately, I'm able to swim and use an elliptical machine, plus my wife and I like to hike. I guess I should be grateful for being in relatively good shape.
