Has anyone ever played this RPG? If so, what are your thoughts about it?

There are quite a few reviews for the core book at RPGnet. They sound good to me.

Hmmmm. That does sound pretty cool. I'm still a stickler for percentile rolls though.

As a matter of fact, I have run some Ramlar just recently. I am also good online friends with Tony Lee, who I started chatting with while playtesting WWE Know Your Role. I will have a couple character write-ups in their Allies and Adversaries supplement. I wrote a review of Ramlar that should show up on RPG.net.

Short form: interesting system, the Momentum mechanic is awesome, the improvised spellcasting and weapon specialization is fun. The world of Ramlar is fairly standard, with a few interesting twists here and there. Combats are a lot slower than C&C due to hit location rolls.

I think your review is already up on RPGnet. I didn't read it all but is this a rules-heavy game?

I would say it is "rules-medium". Not as rules light as C&C, far less rules heavy than 3rd edition D&D. It seems to promote a somewhat cinematic style.

I remember speaking to Whitesilver about it when it came out. Love the cover art by Elmore. Classic Elmore style, and one of the more inventive pieces by him in a while. Those dragons rock.

I'm not sure I like the rules, what little I know of them. The setting sounds neat, though.

Nice to see they finished it. I saw that lot at GenCon last.

Well I wanted to go check out everything there is to know about Ramlar, but the website is... um, rather useless.

Does anybody know of any alternate sites, fan sites, etc.

The map alone intriques me lots.

http://www.myspace.com/ramlarsoundtrack has some art on it. I haven't updated it much yet but plan to this week and next with the release of the soundtrack. The main releases so far are the Core Rules and two novels. This month and next bring about the next wave of supplements. I don't think there is a strong fan base yet - but there is a forum where Tony Lee and John P (creators / owner) openly post and Q&A.

Yup, that was the same thing I got. I won't hold it against the product itself, but going to the Ramlar homepage was frustrating none-the-less.

Yeah, and about half of the items in the Download section give you the error message.

There are a bunch of "404's" and some "File Not Founds" I just tried again, and same result.

Hmm... you're right. They weren't always like that. I got all the info for my Myspace site from their website (thanks for checking it out btw).

I'll let the guys know.

It did work a couple of days ago. But I guess the site will get a complete revamp soon anyway...?!

Anyway - they have two adventures, pictures, rules, and errata for download as well as a very nice and cosy forum and other things on their website.

So stay tuned. Ramlar gets strong support from WSP.

The Products page link on the left is still broke but the Online Store link on top works fine and gives you the same info and a convient place to buy. The Downloads section seems intact once again - now with two versions of the map (high res and low). The Articles link is broke but you can read most of it under the News window.

Glad to see the parts are working again. Now to figure out how to slip yet another RPG book under the wife's radar.
From what I've read of the system, it sounds pretty intriguing.

Thread necromancy!

So they have a snazzed up second edition coming, and it sounds like they were listening to input from fans. And the site works now.

Thoughts?

I have the main book. It looks completely awesome.

It's still in my queue of games to play. But I think it has a lot of potential.

I wasn't even aware of the revised edition until you brought this thread back to life. I went and checked out the talk on it. Looks like some sweet improvements.

I'll be picking it up. Some of the changes make it more likely that this will bet bumped up higher on my "to play" list.

I should note: I just tried to check this stuff out and every link to the online store brought up a Trojan warning from avast!.

Huh? It has been fine for me since I started going in there a week or so ago. I looked at most of the downloads, too. No problem.

You are in Seattle? Have a game going? I don't, its almost all 3.5, or at least it has been. Don't know anybody that plays C&C, much less BRP, Ramlar, or EPIC. Some Exalted and Shadowrun, neither of which I am interested in.
