Do we need another convention?

Post by miller6 »

After Winter LGGC, I'm seriously considering starting a gaming con in Janesville, WI emphasizing C&C events. Got the CKs. Got the new and cool adventures. Got a vendor. All I'd need is to fill the tables with players. Not sure what the dates would be yet. Have to check into the details first.

We need a con closer to where I'm at, and not in the half East of the Midwest. Also, more cons out the other side would be good, too. Not even mentioning international/multinational conventions, like Lake Geneva.
Been tempted to try one in Pennsylvania... around Erie, or something. At least I could get there and back in a day.

Well, I'm all for more Cons; though attending is still rather up in the air until I get a job. But when I do, if the money's what I should get I'll be more than willing to fly up to WV/Penn. for a C&C (and some OS A/D&D, TSR games, et al). Just don't schedule conflicting with LGGC!

This would be frickn awsome! Erie is the perfect place for a Con. Its the same distance from Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Buffalo. Plus the kicker for me, is that it's right in my back yard (30 miles or so).

Frak, let's get the C&C conventions out of the damn middle of the country! How about a nice eastocast convention, or better yet one in OH or IN (those states have always been good for game cons)?

For that matter, why isn't C&C very well represented at the big game CONS (Gen, Origins, Dragon, etc)?

I'll have to start attending the Cons in Tucson and Phoenix, and any others I hear about within 4 or 5 hours driving.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Yep, Albaq. is about 6 hours. So I can be convinced to go to that one.

Hell yeah! Something on the western side of PA would be cool.

Hey Omote, Erie, PA would perfect for you too. I see that you are from NEOH, so you'd only be a skip away from here.

Janesville is fine with me! But, then again, I live in Milwaukee and its not that far away!

Sounded like you guys were having a ball over there with Steve! Until your magic-user got ripped in half by one of the troll lords!! Would have loved to join in, but was having some fun of my own going through Castle Wolfmoon (Lejendary Adventures) with Chris Clark of Inner City Games.

Definitely this summer!!

There used to be a national sci fi conventions list up on the net. I'll see if I can dig it out again. ^_^

Ripped in half?! That's the understatement of the year.
Heh, any entertaining death is a good death in my book. If ya gotta go...go with STYLE. LOL

I had that troll lord dead to rights...right where he wanted me.

Darn crappy dice.

Hasn't been the same around here since we lost the Dudley Bug Ball. I could really do with a Black Country con.

We need a good something with big C&C presence in the Great White North eh!

Seriously though, it would be nice to see the Trolls make it to one of the existing cons in either Montreal, Toronto, or Ottawa or a brand new one!

I'd help... honest!

NEOH here! Yes, an Erie PA con would be nice too. Luckily for us OH, PA, IN, MI guys, there are a fair number of cons, but there has been a distinct lack of C&C at many of these... I've started running C&C at one con in Columbus Ohio (MARcon)

I've been thinking of this, and I've come up with a name, a slogan, and a timeframe (well, in theory.) Have to look into some stuff, like trademarks and whether I can do what I want to do, and costs and whatnot, but damnit, I want a con I can actually attend without breaking my toes and wallet!
