Lots of people ignore Harn. System wise I can understand, but content wise? If you haven't been getting Harn material, check out this Pottage series (of 4) available free at Lythia.com, just like all the other materials presented here.

If you don't fall in love with it I will be kind of stunned.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Nice, I forgot about that site. Some great fluff there. Time to download ....

I've been dropping in on Lythia.com on and off for a while and enjoy the offerings there. I played in HarnMaster events the last two GenCons and enjoy being a player in the game. I wouldn't want to run the HarnMaster system but being a player suited me just fine.

One of my long time gamer friends recently expressed interest in HarnWorld due to it being grounded in reality with lower level magic setting. HarnWorld is not tied to the HarnMaster system and can easily be run using other systems. He has a birthday coming up soon so I think I'll have to gift him the HarnWorld setting and hope he decides to try his hand at it. ;)

I've always been impressed with the Harn stuff. It's been some of the best written material out there for decades.

Yes, yes it has. Which is why I think Paizo's material is so good, I am very sure of where they get their inspiration from. Not saying they copy Harn in any way, but they provide the same kind of background information and character backgrounds.

Every so often I get the feeling of wanting to run a Harnmaster (3rd edition) game. Sure, it's a simulationist style frpg, but it does it very well.

By the way, another simulationist frpg, Chivalry & Sorcery: The Rebirth (aka 4th edition), is available for free download (there are some minor issues with the 3rd vol. in the set, but you can't beat the price): http://www.rpgnow.com/product/142316/Ch ... th-Edition

Harn has beautiful maps and detailed encounter environments. However, when every sheep in a herd for 500 miles has a name, a color, eating habits.... there is a thing as overkill. What would be, in my opinion, the ultimate mashup would be to take Harn and combine it with the earliest Judges Guild stuff. One for presentation and the other for innovation. That is how I hope TLG approaches Aihrde.

I've downloaded probably 99% of the stuff from the lythia.com website and my Harn collection is only missing a handful of items (notable, Son of Cities and Castles of Orbaal). I love me some harn. The only thing that would be difficult would be a magic conversion. It'd need a serious overhaul (in my opinion) to match up the with the Shek-Pvar (and also adding some spells to fill out the different elements). I think it'd be possible. Something I've considered, for sure, because Harn is just that dang cool.

The Harn folks at Gen Con were talking about possible support for GMs running convention games using the HarnWorld setting... even if the system was not HarnMaster. I started toying with the idea of a C&C version of The Silver Way. Don't know if it will ever happen but that seed is planted...

It is most definitely doable...
