Just hours away.....

Post by RPGmonk »

Just hours away from running my first C&C campaign with my olde gaming group. 1 CK, 3 players....but one has canceled coming tonight, such is gaming. The players may come and go, but the dice and pizza remain faithful, amen!

Peace

PS, is not C&C an easy sell to old disgruntled players. Already have at least one players handbook ordered for the group, hopefully more tonight. Great game.

One thing I had to relearn when running C&C was how to let go of feeling the need for a rule for everything. Just let the situation happen and rule according to what makes sense to you. It's so refreshing! 8)

And let true role-playing come back!

Good luck!!! At first I don't even say, "Castles & Crusades." I just kind of go, "You wanna play some D&D?" Then I let them in on the truth: "This is D&D guys, but it's called Castles & Crusades." Then I give them the Mad Irishman's character sheets and they never really know the difference. Most of them don't even really remember all of the old rules that well anyway, so it seems familiar but new at the same time. Enjoy.

About an hour before game time; 1 player called to say another player couldn't get a babysitter so as he was tired also, we should play next week. As I told my wife( a fine player she is) I received a "harumph!" from her and realized that the dice would remain cold and no pizza would be delivered tonight. AAAIIIEEEE!

So I worked on a pbp character, started reading a new book (Book2 of The Dragonmaster trilogy by Chris Bunch), and ate nachos. I also learned to not post about upcoming games...probably some type of curse or something.

Peace

May the great lord Baphomet (hehe) lead you. Onward to masonic lodgings!

Oh, wait, not that kind of Crusade....

Right!

No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!

Right!

Damnit.

Hope you get a game going.

The Crusade never ends RPGmonk. Draw forth your dice, and always press the good word that is our calling.

Best luck brother in future campaigns.

That blows. I try and schedule my game to start about 7:00 p.m. and I make sure and keep everyone posted with e-mails and phone calls up until the date. I basically e-mail them at least two weeks before the proposed game and have them kind of "RSVP" for it. They have time to plan and if they don't plan then they really didn't want to play. Good luck for the next time.

Success!

Post by RPGmonk »

Whoooya!! Success. 4hour game last night. All players showed up. Pizza was ordered. Ale and wine were on hand. Much fun and laughter filled the room. A great start to the campaign. Got feedback, and all enjoyed it. Already scheduling the next session.

Thanks to all for the support. That feel I had last night with this old group of gamers and friends was just like back in the days of High School gaming. We were all carefree with only campaign worries. Great Times!

That will look really cool. It is amazing what you are doing with card stock. I saw the two previous ones and while those are awesome, this certainly has taken the cake (for me anyway).

I've never really paid any mind to card stock type stuff before you started posting these things on the board. I have to admit they look great. I'm not too into the critters (I've got a lot of mini's) but the dungeon tiles and the terrain have really caught my eye.

I'm definitely going to try out some of your stuff.

Yep, they're on the site. There's actually a small image along the left hand column of it that will take you to the product page.

Trust me, I've used Fat Dragon's stuff in a lot of my games. It gets tons of compliments, and its incredibly versatile. I use it to mark trap lines and mystic runes in Invisible ink, and have the lines show up under blacklight. I can piece together a room several different ways in a short amount of time as well. The artwork is all very high standards and its really easy to assemble. This stuff is great!!

The turtle is neat. I never used to like miniatures, really, but I got a hold of a bunch of free stuff from WotC (the stuff you had to print out yourself) and made some pretty cool cemeteries and a little town and it was fun... but, if this can be done easier, and quicker, then I'd probably be interested in it. Cheap, too. I need cheap, because I spend too much on RPGs anyway.

I picked up THIS today and I've got to say I'm looking forward to putting this bad boy together. I've got to run and pick up some card stock tomorrow. Really impressed by the product, lets just hope I have the ability to put it together.

I don't think you'll have any problems. The product photos are of a display my wife and 8 year old son put together for Gen Con last year, and neither of them are card modelers.
