I'd buy it if I didn't already have two...

I actually found a couple of better deals on Amazon, $22, with shipping.

I always skip on these as they don't have the original, iconic cover. For me I can just print the pages and put in a binder if the cover isn't the same.

I was on the fence about purchasing these books. I already had the original books, all of which were in decent shape, and really had no need for them. I don't collect RPGs, so the draw was not that strong for me. In the end, I received a gift card from my mother-in-law that would cover the cost of all three books through Amazon and made the purchase a few years after they were released.

The books are very nice, even if the art is a bit darker than the originals. I generally still use the original, tattered books for referencing information, but like having the premium reprints. They have a nice tactile feel to them and are very aesthetically pleasing. I know there are a few minor transcribing errors in the books, but I don't care. They are still very nice and have no regrets about using that gift card to purchase them.

I am still on the fence about picking up Premium Unearthed Arcana. Maybe if someone sends me a gift card...

:)

I have the entire set, but that is also because I fully intend on playing 1E AD&D yet again. So I want books that will hopefully survive longer than I will. I last played 1E AD&D a couple of years ago, so hopefully I will again, soon. At the very least I will be using them for my next C&C game, since that game will use the 1E character classes as written, as well as the magic items and spells.

I still play 1st edition AD&D. I run a 1st edition Play-by-Post over on RPoL. I keep the tattered copies at hand when I need to reference information while composing posts.

I like 1st edition...it's what I began with, but it does have a lot of quirky little rules that I mostly forget about. It's still a fun game though!

If I was going to run AD&D I'd buy 'em.

Yeah, you definitely don't need to waste money on a rules set you will never use.

I didn't need them.

I bought them anyway.

But, I have no need or interest in the 2nd edition reprints.

WHAT?!? How could you NOT have a deep and abiding love for the best version of D&D ever made?!? Oh, wait, thats Castles and Crusades. Never mind.

I got the 2e reprints to support the trend of older edition support. That and my 2e books are in bad shape.
The only disappointing thing is that they're the revised 2e books, so while the content is the same, the art is completely different, and therefore lacks that nostalgic punch.

Yeah, I bought the 2E books too, but that because until C&C came out, it was my favorite edition of D&D, minus all the splat book rules. I only used the core rules and a few things selected from all of the options available.
