Ditto. Hopefully tomorrow, but we shall see.

There was a short period of time during 2e that I used my screen to smack irreverant and smart-alecky players - consequently, that screen is in the worst shape of all. I don't think I'll be using this one as a bludgeon.

I mainly ask because they're aren't too many tables one needs to reference with C&C - the game's biggest selling point, in my opinion. The last couple times I've played, I've never even opened the book except to reference some spells. I'm still planning on buying the screen, of course, for the art and the utility.

I received mine this evening. It's quite nice -- much nicer than the classic D&D screen I've been using (the all-black one with the Dungeons & Dragons logo-type). It's sturdy and shiny, and it has hot babes.
The charts include a listing of class abilities gained at various levels, class/primary attributes, attribute mods, attribute check resolution, SIEGE engine summary (e.g. description of CC, CB, CL, etc), melee combat mods, cover mods, range mods, unarmed combat summary, surprise rules/mods, liquid combat chart, situational combat chart, undead description (e.g. common, extraordinary, unique), intelligence/mental-strength chart, giant strength chart, size chart, monster XP awards chart, saving throw breakdown (PCs), saving throw breakdown (monsters), encumberance effects, vision, light, weapon and armor stats, and treasure table.

I haven't had a chance to read the adventure, yet.

That doesn't seem right. The screen were just released as far as I'm aware of. Most of the distributers probably don;t even have them in stock yet.

This is just educated guess though.

Pray tell, when will you be shipping from the warehouse so that FRP Games can get my pre-order in?

Is it possible to order it from Amazon then? I have a gift certificate and an order where I could fit this one...

I talked to my FLGS and the confusion came from the initial release date was last year, so when looking at that, and there being no stock, it seems like it's sold out. The actual situation is that it had not arrived yet. And, as of today, both distributors for my FLGS have not received the screens yet.

I have a question for the Trolls.

How is it that some people have gotten their screens and the major game distributors haven't even gotten them yet? I'm talking about ACD and Alliance.

Most likely has to do with the speed of the postal service.

Well that bites. When I owned a game store, the cool service I could provide for my customers is that they could get a product at my store the day it was released instead of waiting for shipping from online sources. That was a major service needed to survive in this age of internet stores. My FLGS is unable to provide that service with TLG products and that upsets me.

I wish more manufacturers would take the stance of Adventure Games Publishing:
From AGP's website wrote:
Products from Adventure Games Publishing will be available ONLY through retail stores for the first three months after release. These products will NOT be sold direct to the consumer through the Adventure Games Publishing website - in print or electronic format - until three months from the official release date. Adventure Games Publishing wants to work with its retail partners to develop local role-playing game communities. The future of our games, and of the adventure games industry, is in the hands of the brick-and-mortar retailer. To that end, we offer the three month exclusive, and plan additional brick-and-mortar retailer support for in-house games, special events, and special sales.
For those that may say, "but what about us with no local game shops?" That is a problem, but if more manufacturers did this, there would be more local game stores around.

But at the very least, I'd hope product be shipped to distributors with enough time for stores to get them in by the release date. At LEAST that.

I agree. Especially with the screen being listed as "available for immediate shipping" 17 days ago.

Hey,

First let me say that the pipeline is a huge state of disarray with distributors hurting real bad for cash, which means they can't order deep and are perpetually out of things. Its a serious problem and one I can do little about.

Why have the screens not become available yet? A variety of reasons. First the printer sent me an advance box so that I could have them for Dundracon. He overnighted these. That gave us enough to ship out those who had pre-ordered. Hince the 'available' sign on the website.

As for distributors getting them. Though they have shipped, they can't be 'announced' until thursday next (that's when the weekly cycle is) and will then ship out to distributors on Monday-Fri. As soon as the distributors get them they ship them to retailers. It takes weeks for us to get product to market after its release.

I understand your concern about both supporting the chain and announcing a product available befor it is available on retail shelves (though any retailer who calls us, or is on our purchase list will get it faster than most folks who pre-order). Davis and I have long ago agreed that we won't sit on product for any time when consumers have pre-paid for it.

In the big picture the numbers are pretty neglible so far as the retailers are concerned, it just creates a false 'release' impression for the folks who frequent the home pages of various companies.

Alderac's approach is an interesting one and I wasn't aware of it until now. Though we won't support it, we do offer tons of support for retail shops including deeper discount, free shipping, multiple avenues of purchasing product, 20% discounted spinner rack deal, free catalogs, fliers, posters and in some cases free product. Many won't take advantage of these things as TLG is still too low on the radar.

Thanks for the thoughtful comments and I'm sorry we can't accomodate you in this.

But! The screens are coming!
Steve

Okay, I can accept that. I only hope in regards to online stores like Amazon, RPGNow, and Noble Knight Games, B&M retailers have product on their shelves when those stores have it in their warehouses.

Ouch, that's the first I heard that. It really shows the symbiotic relationship between retailers and distributors. B&M retailers are struggling for cash and that causes the distributors to struggle as well. Not good news.

I didn't pre-order, so I'm not expecting it that quickly. My only concern is the postal lady. Lately she had been really goofing up the mail. Many of my neighbors have been complaining about getting everyone else's mail. My problem is she loves to stuff things into the box, so I'm worried about the CK screen.

Ah! You're one of the lucky ones to get a first run sent to them, yet unfortunate because of postal delay. Sorry to hear it. Stamp costs must not be high enough for good mail service.

I have found my mail, or someone elses mail, on the ground 3 times over the past year.
