Thanks for sharing your reasons. The only one a can really get behind is the artwork issue. I'd love to see more of Pete's art in the book. As for the other points, I don't really have a problem with those issues. BTEHO.

I'm glad to see that there's still some love for AD&D 2e, judging from the mentions here. Even if the product and setting glut hurt TSR, I still am finding cool products from 2e that I've never heard of or was able to find back in the day.

And Jman5000, TMNT was a heck of a lot of fun to play. There were plenty of zany, gonzo moments the way we played it.

I will chime in with an agreement that I had some fantastic sessions of TMNT. A fun game to be sure.

Yeah, I think 2nd Edition deserves mention as well. I may count the Red Box as the best over-all single product. But I think that 2nd Edition would rank up there as the best over-all system. I still collect some stuff I'm missing.

Well, hell, if we're just going to start naming "fun" games... then Amber Diceless, simply because its ridiculous in setup and beyond reproach in "storytelling" because it is, and requires, a novel approach to gaming. Heh. There is also Castle Falkenstein, TORG, the first edition of Warhammer Fantasy, Chill and Call of Cthulhu, and The Window, CoNTINUUM, Traveller, Adventures from the Floating Vagabond, Worlds of Wonder, Transdimensional Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Teenages From Outer Space, I Kill Puppies For Satan, Kobolds Ate My Baby!, Dragonraid, Chivalry and Sorcery, The Fantasy Trip, and a huge amount of others that exist....

Yeah, the point of the thread kind of got lost here. It was supposed to be about the best, but turned into "favorite" or "most fun." Doesn't really matter though as their are some good games here to be sure.

This thread had me dig out my old classic D&D sets and the Rules Cyclopedia. I had forgotten what a beautifully simplistic system it was and filled with art without peer.

Oh the nostalgia.

Aside from the obvious C&C that has captured my imagination longer than any other RPG.

Most Influenced Me - D&D Red Box, Cyberpunk 2020

Best Production - WFRP Corebook

Most Fun - TMNT Palladium

I'm going to go with 2nd Edition AD&D as well... I think the early 2E PHB (1989-1994) is the best single book TSR ever published.

Some other items that really knock my socks off are...

The Ruins of Undermountain

T1-4 The Temple of Elemental Evil

G1 Steading of the Hill Giant Chief

Okay, if everyone else is doing it, I want to throw out some more "best" items:

Best Adventure Campaign:
The Enemy Within Campaign (Warhammer)

I have not seen anything that even comes close . . .

Yeah, I played in a PBP game last year in this campaign and it was absolutely fantastic and interesting. I think we did Shadows over Boganhafen and maybe one other mod. The DM posted most of the detail on his forum, so we didn't to have any of the material (not that I had any), but I do now want to buy this stuff.

Is the Enemy Within, 1E or 2E WH ruleset? And does the EW campaign have lots of mods?

Thanks BtB.

TEW is first edition but conversion to the current version is not difficult. This is about the best campaign ever created and it has everything, even some silly things at times.

Thanks and great endorsement. I'm on the hunt now for this stuff!

Rhu, the Enemy Within Campaign consists of:

Original Games Workshop:

- The Enemy Within - Part 1 of the Enemy Within Campaign

- Shadows Over Bogenhafen - Enemy Within Part 2 )

- Death on the Reik (Box Set - Enemy Within Part 3)

- The Power Behind the Throne (Hardcover - Enemy Within Part 4)

- Something Rotten in Kislev (Hardcover - Enemy Within Part 5)

- Empire in Flames (Hardcover - Enemy Within Part 6)

- Restless Dead is a supplement of short adventures, which if desired, can be incorporated into the Enemy Within. Warhammer City is a supplement describing Middenheim which can be used to provide more detail in for The Power Behind the Throne.

The above editions were reprinted by GW:

- Warhammer Campaign contains Vol 1 & 2

- Warhammer Adventure contains Vol 1-3

- Death on the Reik was reprinted as a single hardcover instead of a box set.

These were reprinted in the 90's as softcover books by Hogshead (note: they never got around to reprinting Empire in Flames)

Enemy Within Campaign (Reprinted as softcover books)

- Shadows Over Bogenhafen Volume 1

- Death on the Reik Volume 2

- Power Behind the Throne Volume 3

- Something Rotten in Kislev Volume 4

Hogshead combined Vol 1 & 2 or the original into one Volume, thus the difference in number sequencing.

Whew! There you go.

That's really excellent. Thanks so much. Time to get busy on that "bidding" website and other places!!!
Thanks.
