When did the sale end? I was all set to order last Thursday before I left town for the weekend and *poof!*

Ah well, you snooze, you lose, I suppose. But damn.

Well, if it is over you have about another year to get ready for the next time.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

The old Canting crew is sweet. The book is has a very unique layout to it, which makes it interesting. However, regardless of which version of the book both are immensely useful to any FRPGer. It's cool that the new one will be C&Cized, but really the "mechanic material" is of the least value IMO. It's the uber-deep look at rogues, thieves, the underground, words, phrases, and the shear amount of information contained within that has no specific game use.

Canting Crew is the goods.

Last night I was pouring over one of the books I picked up from the $10.00 sale, looking for ideas in my saturday game. My players are about to become involved heavily with wizards in training and a powerful guild of "arcanists", so I was trying to find some inspiration. I was looking over the TLG book called Path of the Magi. Path of the Magi is a d20 resource for arcane spellcasters that has a ton (and TONS) of options, and neat little ideas for "arcanists."

I was thinking how useful this book is, for my d20 games AS WELL AS my C&C games. For $10.00 the ideas gerated by the product have been well worth the cost. Reading the book now, makes me wish I invested the full price in this books YEARS ago. What a cool book.

If you are interested in Wizards and the like, PATH OF THE MAGI is a very cool book.

I think I posted a review of PAth of the MAgi on ENWorld about 4 years ago. Or was it something else that had all the cool ideas about familiars?

There is, of course, the book that is dedicated to familiars exclusively, by TLG.

Then that is the one I reviewed. I do own and like PAth of the MAgi, too. I only reviewed the Familiars book, though.

I also like the towns and cities product. Reminded me a bit of the old Harn products I used to buy with a half dozen or so cities in them.

TLG has made some interesting products, some of them more useful than others. For example, Path of the Magi is a good book, but I don't care so much for the magic school idea (reminded me of Harry Potter) so I just dumped that and found the rest convertible to what I would like. Now, Book of Familiars rocks, mostly for all the animals in it.

If for nothing else, there is a good d20 book of regular, everyday animals. To be honest, beyond this part of the book I remember little. I'll have to read up again as BoF is another one I picked up during the last sale.
