The Late Night Monster Movie

Post by Julian Grimm »

I've been reminicing about my teenage years and the way I used to recharge over the weekends. One of them was the Late Night Monster Movies that used to be on a local UHF station.

It was basically teh Elvira knock off but itr was fun. The one I remember was 'Daves Late Movie" The movie was hosted by a used car salesman in Springfield Mo and his dry wit was better than the movies were at times. I still remember his open challenge to the viewers to beat his Galaga score at the Git 'n' Go next to his lot.

Fun times and the UHF shows like this will be missed.

I toast ya Dave and we need more of your movies now!

Yeah, I remember watching late-nite classic B-rates. There was even a dude on USA that did that.... and, he knew a lot (or had a well-versed research staff) and sometimes knew what I didn't, which was scary...

Too bad I don't get cable TV anymore, or I might have to mandate a horror channel get into existence. Bastards. They make everything else, like "the mom channel" but no freaking horror?!

Commander USA's Groovy Movies! Classic! A cigar chomping slob in a haphazard superhero outfit.

YES!!! I remember these fondly. Coming from the Cleveland area, I always like The Ghoul (semi-famous late-night bad movie program show host) and the Son of the Ghul. There is also a pair of guys in our area called "Big Chuck & Little John" that used to hose these same movies, with retarded and lame skits inbetween commercials and whatnot.

I loved this stuff.

I'd almost host one of my own to get one back on air.

Joe Bob Briggs!!! He's actually been in a few movies as well. I remember him being the doctor in Face Off *shudder*. As for the horror channel thingie: There is one called FearNet. We've got it here on Comcast. They have a full range of horror films including 80's classics The Gate and Cameron's Closet.

I remebered there was one after Dave's Late movie that showed on an ABC affiliate here that was hosted by a Vampire named Norlock. It was cool as well but I still was pretty fond of Dave.

When I was a kid, our local monster movie fix came at 11pm on Saterday nights, in the form of Creature Feature hosted by "Count Gore DeVall" or something, a want to be vampire. They showed all the classics, Dracula, Mummy, Creature From the Black Lagoon, Frankenstein, The Wolfman, and all thier sequals. Also shown was the giant monster movies likeKing Kong & Godzilla.
