Does the Scifi kits have a variety of mech and starcraft? I was wondering what kind of stuff was in the sci fi one.

I bought some excellent PDFs as well. The 3-PDF runs of the Sci Fi kits and Fantasy kits are invaluable as well as the Pulp Toolkit and Pulp GM PDFs. I recommend all of them, with the possible exception of the bestiaries, which were disappointingly devoid of art representing the critters contained within.

Yeah, I've been looking at the toolkits. Probably gonna pick them up. I just wish I had time to run more than 1 game at a time. Until I finish up my Dragonlance campaign, SW is going to have to wait.
Thats cool though, its giving me time to put some prep work into the campaign I'm brewing.

Mechs and Vehicles both have separate sections in the Sci Fi Gear Toolkit. Both have a few examples and also quick and easy construction rules to make your own Mecha or Vehicles.

Dang you all have hooked me on an other game.. C&C, all the other TLG goodies cant wait for CK, midnight for the setting not the 3.5 crunch, now this. Im only a TSgt & dont have THAT much money

Does anyone have the PDFs from RPG now? Are they trimmed down versions of the books or are they the whole shebang? Also, I saw the Toolkits, which ones are worth getting?

Im moving so have to clear the clutter out of the house (I cant believe the realtor says 2 book shelves of game & mini warfare books is clutter) & my wife is starting to notice the few books I keep in the closet has almost tripled in size since the $10.00 craziness. So if I get these then they will have to be in PDF. Plus, with deployments, I need to have as much as possible on digits!

Dude, dont lie, E-6's make all the money and get all the chicks. The PDFs are full blown versions of the print books. The SW Revised PDF is very nice and printable/searchable. As far as the toolkits, which genre(s) will be your focus with SW? Since Im guessing Fantasy will be C&C then that leaves out the fantasy toolkits.

Deadlands is at the top of the list. For the other genres Future SCIFI. Also looking for a hero type game but I'm not sure if SW has a kit for that. I've never played a "pulp" game so not sure what that covers.

Thanks

Well, Deadlands Reloaded is its own book as you know, so that's covered. For sci fi, get the Sci Fi Gear toolkit at the least, and if you can spring for it the World Builder has some good advice. The Bestiary, as stated before, is somewhat needless fluff, although a decent idea mine. I don't know of any hero type supplements, but do check out savageheroes.com to see what's available. Pulp games cover a wide variety of situations, but at the core it would be something along the lines of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Indiana Jones, or even Star Wars. Anything high action and cinematic might fall into the pulp genre, although it can be hard to define. Normally there are fantastical gadgets involved and at least a certain amount of campiness or humor.

One of the best things I have seen out there for Savage Worlds is the AD&D conversion, and the Conan supplement. Really well done! Now, if only I could like SW...

Hell, chief, don't try to force it, eh. There are boatloads of games out there to love and loathe. At least we all agree on C&C.

Looks like I'll be seeing SW in action tomorrow. Getting a slight burnout on fantasy, my group decided we'd do a one shot this week instead of our regular game. Give a change for a week and let us see first hand if we'll be running some more SW when our C&C campaign winds down.

Let us know how it goes, boss!

Will do.

We were supposed to play tonight and tomorrow, but with the change of plans they're making up their characters now while we've been doing a western movie marathon. Kind of a kickback night with movies, beer and getting some characters concepts down. SW character creation is quick.

Oh, and they're not too familiar with Deadlands or Savage worlds, so most of them think we're just playing a western tomorrow.

I'm another one. I really wanted to like Savage Worlds. But...I don't. There is really nothing wrong with the rules, but I just don't like them. And I wanted to.

Deadlands .... "Just" a western... Oh you'll have fun there. Take a picture when they run into their first zombie!
