It's not a "new" story if you've read The Silmarillion or the "Narn i Chin Hurin" in Unfinished Tales.
Hard to be spoiled.

I'll be picking this up this weekend. I've read the Hurin tales in the Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales, so I know how things go. I'm just interesting in seeing the additions to the tale.
I read the stories as a teenager and always say myself as a Turin Turambar (apparentl I was emo before there was emo)
For anone who'se raed the book I have a spoiler question:
SPOLIER
Did the stor end with Hurin's release after Turin;s death or did it go i\nto any of the Last Battle mythos Tolkien had that dealth with the end of the middle earth and Turin's confrontation with Morgoth at the end of time?

I read through Chapter VIII last night. I remembered a lot of the events as told in "The Silmarillion", but I believe the reader gets more out of the tale as told in "The Children of Hurin" because it has more depth since it is told narratively rather than as a historical fact.
That's just my opinion, of course, as it's been about 5 years since I last read "The Silmarillion". YMMV.
