Are there any movie buffs out there? Anybody looking forward to the 2007 summer movie blockbuster season?

Here's a list of some of the BIG A-list films for 2007:

Spiderman 3

28 Weeks Later

Pirates of the Caribbean ~ At World's End

Shrek the Third

Ocean's Thirteen

Fantastic Four 2 ~ Rise of the Silver Surfer

Even Almighty

Ratatouille

Live Free of Die Hard

Transformers

Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix

The Bourne Ultimatum

Rush Hour 3

Did I forget any?

What do you have to run out and see this year?

Not that any of these movies are going to win us the prestigious "Yer a Smart Moviegoer" award, but this year is shaping up to be all about the summer blockbuster...

Just look how many of those movies have a number in their title. That's good times, good times.

Personally if I had to choose just one, it would be Transformers. That movie looks absolutely amazing, technically that is... And I don't care if the film doesn't look like any of the original transformer cartoons or not. Michael Bay can make a damn good action-packed thrill ride of a flick, not that any of his movies are good, but they are damn enjoyable.
Of coursem I am looking forward to seeing them all at one point or another.

I think you have them all in your list, at least all those I want to see are there. And I love them, Big Mac movies (ie, they are good, but do not feed you - or your mind).

Always looking forward to Harry Potter movies. I had some trouble with the last one, many mixed feelings about the look/feel & approach taken. So I'm hoping this movie will correct the "direction" that these movies are taking!
Rush Hour 3!!! Oh yeah, the first two movies were hilarious and the supporting casts, superb!!

Pirates

Shrek

Spidey

Bring 'em on!

That't right, I'm also super-psyched about Rush Hour 3... those movies are about the only thing Brett Ratner can direct well. Really fun movies... way better then the Lethal Weapon series.

Truth to tell, we will probably only see two or three of these at the theatres. The rest will wait until DVD release.

Yeah, I am looking for pure entertainment, nothing "intellectual".

Transformers is a disappointment to me, having seen several parts of it already, and knowing a bit of it from "the inside" as it were. If you're a hardcore fan you'll not like the drastic changes to personalities and characterizations.

That's one reason I'm looking forward to the TF film! Not any of the kiddie-friendly, look at the cute car stuff, but a war where humans are caught in the middle of one side who care nothing for their lives. The transformers in the movie, both Autobot and Decepticaon look alien, and very intimidating. Hell, Bumblebee (remember the kiddie-friendly VW bug) looks like a damn yellow demon from my nightmares... and he's a good guy!

Bottom line is that I think Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg really have the foundation for a different look to a mega-franchise. However, it's possible that the "hard" look to the Transformers will turn the younger audience and their parents away.

I have high hopes for this one.

I know it does't count as a "summer blockbuster", but on 3 July, 2007 the film SOLID STATE SOCIETY will be released in North America. This, by far, is my personal most hotly anticipated flick of the year.

It was released in Japan last November, and I've been torturing myself not to pick it up before it has been properly released in North America.

The time is getting close now...

If anybody is remotely interested, here's a link to the trailer:

Omote you gjust got me in trouble. SGM walked by as the picts were opening. It's kind of hard to explain that as weather data...... but it was worth it

Thanks!

I too am disappointed in Transformer after seeing bits of it. Reminds me of Bionicles...

That being said I'm off right now to watch Spiderman 3.

So to those that care

I found spiderman 3 to be as expected. The action was good, some parts of the story kinda carried on a little too long but overall it was not bad.

I think people who have written reviews, forgot how long the first two movies were as well (2.5 hrs or so).

Won't spoil it too much here, but there were some continuity stuff that I didn't like.

Overall I liked Spiderman 3. It was a good time. Sam Raimi did a pretty damn good job trying to fit a couple of "origin? stories in there as well as Peter's lovelife, Peter's relationship with Harry Osborn, a new rival photographer at the Bugle, etc, etc. Plus, then a kick-a**e fight at the end.

On the Omote Scale of movie goodness I'd give Spiderman 3
8.0 / 11.0

There were moments that I liked, and a few that I didn;t care so much for (most of those were the fact that certain aspects of this movie were very rushed, for obvious reasons).
