I'm in the same boat. No obvious groups, and I'm slightly picky (being an older gamer) about styles and systems. Plus our FLGS went out of business. Given my real life schedule I can't afford to commute an hour or more to games.

So I'm growing one gamer (she's fascinated with the few minis I have, which is funny 'cause I'm not a minis gamer). Mrs Geleg will play reluctantly.

My best lead is some of my grad students whom I've just discovered have a gaming past ... I may be able to get them to play. They're young enough not to have heard of the giants series - I may try to run them through some of it this summer using C&C.

Have you tried the 'Find a Store' on wizards. Granted its D&D but could give you an idea of where to look.

I travel a lot for work, and I like to stop in some of the LGS's when I'm on the road. I've had 50% success at using the yellow pages combined with a web search for "game stores near ____".

I will say that most of the gaming I've done has been M:tG. I've played in the past. In fact, I had quite a collection. sold on ebay for $1500.

I would NEVER get into the game again. It is WAY too expensive to try to keep up with the rest of the crowd and the games aren't any fun if you aren't competitive. When I've traveled, I've been offered other peoples decks to use for the evening. this has worked out well for me.

I've had zero luck finding C&C groups, though.

Try www.meetup.com to set up a Castles and Crusades group, though you should find to label it as "Dungeons and Dragons" group.

Down here in South Florida, there are several such groups. At least one for every county and a couple of extra for the game stores.

As a heads up, there is a fee attached to starting up the group.

I feel your pain though. The closest game store is pretty much overrun by the gamers who live in the same neighborhood. Even though some of these guys are in their 40s, all of them are unmarried with no kids and no real careers, i.e., gaming is their life.

In short, you can't start a new game because the same 15 guys rotate their own 3.5 games there every night of the week. Throw in the card tournies and wargames that bring in the real money on the weekends and there's simply no room.

You live in South Florida? Where? I live in South Miami and I just lost two players. We have five of us, four and one GM and although that isn't bad, we would like a couple more and we have grown to like C&C. I understand how you feel BTW. The gaming community down here is very insular and even the gaming club is rather cliqueish.
