What Happenned to the Old Forums?

Post by Nifelhein »

I was wondering what happened with the old troll lord forums on ezboards, I know it is there somehow, but the change seemed to be driven by some issues that came to be.

I for one know we could convert those posts for other forum softwares, so I am curious on how this worked out. Unfortunately it is not possible (or just feasible) to merge two existing DBs, in this I mean the old one and the current one.

Well, I can still get there via my ezboard link. Why the new boards? Not sure. Maybe to go hand in hand with their newly redone website that switched their focus from d20 to C&C and LA. So a new messageboard that focused on C&C and LA, like the company now does.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.
Sounds obvious to me! -Gm Michael

I think one of the major reasons was the hack that took place over at the EZBoards. A lot of posts/threads got deleted. Besides, the current forum is MUCH, MUCH better.

Heh, I have a warm place in my heart for the old forums. My first forum!! I learned a lot about C&C there, just as I continue to learn here. But I do recall so many people not liking that forum or the board software. Yeah, and as Rigon mentions - the hack. So many valuable posts were lost.

Oh well, this forum now has my undivided attention!

The Trolls never liked ezBoard as far as I know, but it was pretty much the common practice. NG, Monte, some others... they all used it, and still do somewhat. The great hack and subsequent lack of backup provided by that site was disastrous; tons of material was lost forever. The focus has shifted to a friendlier, more intuitive board, matching C&C itself. ;)

Just to clear things up, I loathe EZBoards, their software is almost prehistoric and surely is not any good to use, what I was looking for was how the change came to be, and it is for the better, imo, I did not know of a hack, I never went to EZBoards before I got Unisystem, and I would change it for anything else at a heart beat.

I hated the ezboards with a passion. One reason I never posted much over there. Posts would routinely go missing... GAH!
