Ran C&C at the drop of a hat

Post by Eisenmann »

This past weekend, I was camping with some friends. They're all gamers so it's not surprising that running a game came up. I decided to run C&C since I had it in the car.

It was a ton of fun. One of the guys is a hardcore D&D 3.5 player and to be honest, his familiarity with 3.5 helped out a lot. At first he wasn't sure about movement and no feats but was soon rolling.

I flipped through the Cities & Settlements book just to come up with a starting idea and it rolled on from there.

Just wanted to chime in to say that C&C is truly fun to play and takes me back to the good ole days.

Hey that's very cool. I would think gaming would go perfectly with camping. Shucks, you could almost LARP it! Of course, that might depend on your proximity to other campers.
If we do any camping this year, I will bring my book or boxed set for sure!

Thats cool.

I am at my resort this week, but I still get to run my SKYPE C&C game because of wireless internet, and I only had to haul two books, a module, and my dice.

If I was still burning myself out on 3E I would have had to bring 7 or more books. DM screen. Dice. Lots more dice. Still only one module.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Are you guys running video as well or just audio via skype?

This was the group that I do LARP with, so that might be in the works.

Audio only for now. With using MapTools if I ever figure out how to make that thing work without having to ask for help almost every step of the way.

A couple of us have talked about using video feed as well, but we haven't discussed the viability as a group yet. Maybe I'll bring it up tonight.

Let me know how that goes if you ever implement it; I'm looking for a video solution for some of the guys in an old group that moved away.

Just the SKYPE sound gets you 80% of the way to sitting around the table together. Listen in some time.

Does take a bit of setup, but using just the basic functions isn't too tricky... very handy if you want maps or even just pics

Gaming during campouts is so awesome! It's a really good setting as it get's players in the mood to game, usually extraordinarily good.

Congrats on your game E!

My first DnD game was at a Boy Scout camp. They mentioned flaming swords and flying carpets and I was there.

Better yet, that's the story that gets me excited to run C&C.

Prep time, we don't need no stinking prep time!!!
