Slightly different cover for 3rd print PHB?

Is the cover a little bit different for the 3rd print PHB? I noticed on the product order page that it looks a little different from the previous two printings...

If it is different, I think it's a good thing. It's a good easy way to visually make the 3rd print distinct from the first two printings. And, also, it looks cool too

Yes, it's a bit different.
M&T's different too.

Looks like the Bunce background map is gone. Any particular reason for that?

Yes, many. One of them being that the fellow is not really in the industry anymore. Anyone who wants the story can run a search at rpg.net. ^_~`

Thanks Peter. I think I do recall something about him disappearing or not being available. And no thanks on the story or rpg.net, heh, I've been doing well and staying away from there!
But, I will say this, I think YOU should do a detailed regional Aihrde map featuring Outremere that would be on all future covers (well - behind the artwork of course).

This also begs the question:
When are we going to see a detailed map of Outremere with the explicit location of Blacktooth Ridge???

Heh, don't mean to bug you, but after all we all sure have been waiting, what almost 2 years!!!

Let me know if this question is better addressed to Steve.

What? The world Airhde map on there already isnt enough? Sides, I like the world thing better. It's less cluttered looking.

*snorts* Bout the same time Steve gets round to 1) sending me the info I need and 2) letting me get on with it.

There's a few other things in the pipleline first.

No, no. I mean a regional map that would replace the one Bunce did for the mods and PH, etc. You could do that area map in your style which would be very well received - and at the same time, Steve, you & Davis could finally decide how the BtR fits into that regional map.
And then, the fans will have a great background map for future products and the true location of BtR/Botkinburg/Malforten etc, etc.

Make sense?

I'm digging the new cover just for the fact that the map is not on there. I liked the idea, but as it was stated was just a bit too busy for the cover. Just my opinion though.

Um dude, that map that is on the new cover, is the map thats going to replace what Clayton did on all the mods ect. LOL

As for BtR, Thats up to Steve and Davis to get me that info so I can do such a thing. [/i]

Well Son of a Gun, mebbe that explains our confusion. When looking at the link to the cover, one cannot see the map/background - as per Omote's post above, there doesn't seem to be one.

Thanks for the clarification. I can now look forward to seeing what the new cover actually looks like!

There is, but it is more subtle than the previous one.

Thats rather the point. It gives texture without being overwhelming. At least that was the general idea. ^_^

There IS a map on there?!?! I thought the differences in shading were merely a texture effect. Huh. Learn some thing every day I suppose. So is it the same map as PHB 1 and 2, list a little softer?

It really is too bad because his maps were awesome.

He was even mentioned in the original ad copy for Castle Zagyg.

No argument here.
