I got back into role-playing a year ago after being away from it since the mid-90's. The reason I got back into it was my wife bought me the 30 Years of Adventure book by WOTC that highlights the history of D&D. I read the book and it got the old juices flowing. All the excitement and wonder was coming back to me and I ran out and bought all the D&D books I could find. It took me about 6 months to figure out that the current incarnation of D&D blows. Not long after that, I found C&C and LA, and I'm finally playing the kinds of games I remember from high school.
Sorry to be nostalgic, but tonight I was looking through my 1st edition AD&D collection and wondering why the game I loved so much back then sucks so bad today. It really makes me appreciate C&C and the people that have kept that style of gaming alive. I feel lucky to have found this stuff!
You mean there are no winners and losers?
Yeah, I know what you mean. I (and several others) was first contacted by TLG on dragonsfoot.org (home of 1E AD&D) with the idea to create a modern game that captures that spirit of yore. IMO, they did it and I couldn't be happier.

I feel ya bro. Oh wait, that is the new way to talk (maybe). I'll stick with good old American English. Just like my RPGs... the old fashioned way.
