Exalted?

It doesn't appear to be my usual type of game but my wife is interested in it and considering that she's played just about everything I wanted to over the past 15 years I suppose this diversion wont hurt me much.

I'm familiar with the White Wolf game system, and while its not my favorite, it doesn't annoy me, so that wont be too bad. Although I assume there is some differences.

Is it really as over the top as I think it will be? I'm guessing it has some similarities with manga, which is part of the reason my wife is interested in it.

I've read a few reviews on it but those were by rabid fanboys. I'm looking to see what more classical gamers have to say about it.

I can say nothing about this game whatsoever, other then the core rulebook is heafty. That's about the extent of my knowledge on the subject.

I had stumbled on to the Quickstart PDF after posting this. After reading through it, it doesn't seem too bad. I guess I'll pick up the full game, it doesn't seem like the nightmare I envisioned. Besides, it'll score points with the misses.

Sorry, I can't give you any actual play experiences with the system but I was singularly impressed by the huge frakkin' story/image/vibe that they try to put across with just the rulebook alone. The 2nd edition rulebook (which I had) was a very, very pretty thing and the same held true for the majority of stuff I saw for it.

Talk about epic...this thing had it down to a "T".

It does look like an interesting ride of a game, so good luck on it.

It does look like an epic, high-fantasy, blow shit up fest. Which will be cool as an occasional diversion from our regular gaming.

I'm trying to wrap my head around some of the seemingly odd rules things in the Quickstart rules though.

Indeed. Just two days ago I got some of those points and she handed me two packages. Inside, four books from my massive list of things to get. And, all I had to do was put some dishes in the dishwasher. Ahh... the bliss of easy street. Heheh (don't tell her I said that!)

Darn! That falls in "certain basic expectations" for me. I would have to remodel a room or plant a bunch of new tree's to get points for something like that.

Its easier for me to just wait for holidays like Fathers Day or my B-day so I can buy the stuff I want.
