Happy Independence Day...

Post by Jason Vey »

...to all my fellow American posters here. I'm watching the fireworks on TV, now, and just thought I'd wish everyone a happy 4th. This is the one day of the year where no matter what we feel about how poor are the decisions our government may have made over the recent years, it's okay to feel a swell of true pride in your country and in your citizenship.

Forget, just for now, all the bullshit that's going on right now, and the divisions we're suffering with every day, day-in, day-out...and enjoy.

Today, I am proud to be a citizen of the United States of America.

Happy Independence Day to you all!

We had a great day. Prepped food (steaks, zuccini, potatoes and fresh corn on the cob) all morning. The family packed up about noon and headed over to my sisters for some pork and green bean casserole. After a nice visit headed back to the house where a Todd Gray, Mark Sandy, Mac Golden and his family and some other folks gathered to feast on all the beef. I broke out (as I do every year) my old hand cranked ice cream maker (traded some gas for it and some bike's years ago up in the Ozarks, siphoned the gas out of my very tank to get it haha). The ice cream was joined by my wife's popcorn cake made to look like an American Flag and we feasted on that for awhile.

Then the fun began. It was dark and we headed out into the street, sent word to the neighbors to gather for some fireworks and the whole neighborhood brought explosives, chairs and drink. We proceeded to set off a whole bunch of mess for about two hours, way past dark.

Lots of fun!

Happy 231st Birthday!!!!!!!!!

Steve

This was the first 4th I've worked in years. I could care less about taking off for christmas. Thanksgiving is cool IF I get it off. But the 4th? I ALWAYS take it off. Its the holiday I have a blast with. BBQ'ing, drinking some cold beer and having a good time with friends and family. Thats my kind of holiday.

But, circumstances prevented that this year So instead of drinking beer, eating good and blowing stuff up I was at work.

Hope everyone else enjoyed their 4th though.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I was at work too.

Nothing wrong with fireworks a few days late anyway!
