In the pre-Gen Con lull of new products, I was browsing the used bins at the FLGS and I realized that I have almost never seen a single product from the Mentzer Classic D&D era used. I had to go online to find the Immortals set and Rockhome. But I have never seen any of the Gazetteers in a store, and almost never when it comes to the modules (at least, not since I first bought the boxed sets when they were still in print).
Is it like that elsewhere, folks, or is this just a regional scarcity? Or do people just hold onto these books more than others?

The last time I went looking, I walked into a Kaybee Toys, and they had 3 of the D&D box games (Goblin's Den, Dragon's Lair, and something else) and all the gazetteers. The box games were $5, or buy 3 for $7.50. The gaz's were all $2.50. I grabbed one of everything. Since then, though, and that was about 9 years ago, I have not seen them anywhere... not even in the local OoP reseller (though I have not looked at the not-so-local ones.)
I miss the days when one could go into a toy store and get D&D stuff.

I have a similar story. About 10 years ago, I picked up the Thyatis and Alphatia Gazetteer, the Hollow World boxed set, and several adventures from the Mystra product line at Kay-Bee for about $2.00 each. I probably wet my pants when I saw that. They were also selling Battle Masters (from the makers of Hero Quest) for $10.00. I bought two.
I'd love to see something like that again.
EDIT: Someone is selling that Gazetter on ebay for $30.00!! Holy cow! And mine is in much better condition.

I had picked up several box sets at KB as well years ago, but now the store here closed so I don't even have that option, My FLGS really has never had much old school/used items of any kind. An old hobby store once had some OD&D stuff, I picked up one of everything they had, but that has closed up as well.

Moral of the story?
If Maliki buys out of print material from you, you will go out of business.
