On the Road

I've primarily been lurking here lately but will be away altogether for a week or two.

I have to make an unexpected trip up to Illinois to visit some family and will be leaving in the morning. Maybe I'll get to make some game store stops along the way since I don't have any local shops around these parts. I'm sure there's at least one in the Quad Cities.

Have a good trip. Might want to PM Buttmonkey, he's from that area. And yeah, I would hope there some good FLGS there.

There are two FLGSs in the Quad Cities, actually. Neither of them stock TLG products. Los bastardes! Let me know where you'll be coming into the QCA and I can give you directions to both. The Illinois store seems to be doing a bit better business (at least it stocks more RPG stuff -- the Iowa store seems to cater to the Magic: The Gathering crowd).

I returned from my trip last night.

I found a store in Moline called Dragon's Sanctum. Not the best selection but still some decent finds. They had a few of the old TLG d20 modules, but that was it.

What I did enjoy is I found a few Werewolf: The Apocalypse books I had been looking for. Snatched them up a pretty decent prices.

It's a shame this was more of a trip to take care of some unexpected issues up there. If I would have had time I would have looked for some game up that way.

There's always next summer I suppose. Going to try and coordinate my next trip up there around LGGC time and hop, skip and jump up up there for it.

At least you made the trip safely and still found some good stuff while you were at it.

We're leaving out in about an hour and while I may not have found any Crusaders down there, I do have a lead on 2 possible game stores.

Sweet!

We don't have any local game stores here so I'm always seeking them when we travel. My wife says I'm a geek. While I prolly won't get any gaming done this week, I'll at least hopefully get to pick up some goodies while I'm out.

"See" ya next week.

Have a good trip, DD. Be safe and bring me back something good. If it's not OOP, then maybe a scorpion in lucite key chain or a sidewinder rattle.

In return, I'll give you my stuffed Chicago Alley Rat for your fire place mantle (hope you have a huge fireplace!).

Well, I never did get a chance to try and track down a game store down there though I did get to see and do a few interesting things like assist with THIS.

Best I managed to do gaming wise was I wandered over to a Hastings near my hotel and discovered they had a MASSIVE collection of older NG products. Pretty sweet. Didn't pick up anything though. just a couple novels I was wanting to get.

Visited the Prison Museum (nifty stuff there like Bonnie & Clyde stuff as well as the old electric chair), Peckerwood Hill Cemetery (old prison cemetery for unclaimed inmates), a bunch of sam Houston stuff (including the massive statue of him).

All in all it was a decent trip. The school was actually pretty good training plus I got to see a lot of historical stuff dealing with the agency I work for.
