Adventurer Card Game
Adventurer Card Game
First time poster, long time lurker.
I just wanted to post to ask if anybody had an idea on the release date of the Adventurer game mentioned on the news page. I played it a few times at Gencon last year when the guy who created it only had proto type cards but it was still fun as hell. I just want to know when I might be able to get a completed copy.
Thanks

Heh...
The designer of the card game is K.R. Bourgoine, and I plated a couple of games with him at Lake Geneva Gaming Convention III in June. It is a fast and enjoyable...even if I lost one of the two forays.
The concept of a chess-like battle game where the powers of the pieces are mutable through the addition of magical attack and defense items gained by the draw of cards gives a nice mixture of strategy to the tactical play required by the game.
Those that are captivated by the design will be glad to learn that it is the first of several similar designs by Mr. Bourgoine.
BTW, he is also my co-author on a couple of Gord the Rogue short stories, and we are planning a new Gord novel sometime in the not too distant future
Cheerio,
Gary

A new Gord novel?!?!? Do you know how many years I have been waiting for that announcement?
Save my gamer soul. That is great news.

Thats great to hear about Gord! The card game does sound like something I would like too. I'll have to keep my eyes and ears open about both.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Thanks for the interest in the game. As too when it comes out Sereran was right, Steve will be the one to announce the exact day, but I can say there is a bit of hope to see it by the end of summer which I am personally excited about.
I first debuted the card game at LGGC II and then at LGGC III I was able to bring a mock deck complete with all the final art to the show. The art files for all the cards have since been sent to the Trolls and hopefully are inching their way towards the printing press.
I do have a slight correction in regards to Garys post. He has played a good deal of my games and the chess-like battle game that he mentions is actually K.R.Bourgoines Adventurer The Arena Game, and not Adventurer The Card Game. With that said though he is right, if you like one of the games in the Adventurer series the rest of them will probably be to your palette as well.
K.R.Bourgoines Adventurer The Card Game is a quick and simple game played with just a deck of 80 fully colored and illustrated cards and 2 six-sided dice. Each of the 1-4 participants plays a hero in a race to defeat the evil vampire that is somewhere in the deck of cards, which represent the rooms of a castle. Players take turns drawing cards and each card is a different room, or trap, or unguarded treasure. Along the way, by battling the monsters in each room each hero tries collect treasure to increase their power enough to be the first to successfully defeat the Count Lodrac, the vampire lord, when his card, the Crypt, is finally drawn.
And for those interested in the Gord short stories/novel I do try to update my website every now and then with info about them as well as other projects. (and seriously, I promise, no, really I mean it, I will try to update it more often!)
Cheers!

Cool! That card game sounds like a perfect game to play before running I6-Ravenloft. Should set the mood very nicely.

Welcome magicelf!
I too am looking forward to the release of Kerry's game. It looks fantastic. I didn't get a chance to play it, but watched some folks for a bit. And I think my nephews will enjoy this as well.

Thanks Rhuvein for the kind words! Very much appreciated. I'm sorry you didnt get a chance to play it at LGGC. Are you going to be a Gencon? Because if you are we could have a game or three there, heh!

That would be great. I won't be attending as I am reserving funds for only the LGGC and Troll CONs for now. I would like to go to Gencon, if only for a day to see the "madness" and sheer numbers of people.
So, here's my plan:
Win the huge lotto/powerball and I mean giant money.
I buy the rights to OAB/D&D from lizards of the coast. I give said rights to Gary.
Then I send a massive infusion of cash to TLG and become an "investor" (but really I'll just go down there and play C&C and look at their offices).
OK, and then, I'll fund you and all my other favorite developers.
OK, and then, I'll fund all my C&C fellows to be able to attend all these great CONs, particularly LGGC and Troll CON.
Meself, I'll just fly my Gulfstream around the country going to CONS and helping Peter recruit fantastically beautiful women to model for all the future artwork.
'Course, I'll head up to Minoqua to pick up some fabulous bakery from Frank to spread around at CONs and pretty much everywhere.
Well, that's a start anyway, have I forgotten anything*?
*[Duh, yeah. Have Pink Floyd play at LGGC! ]

Sounds good to me. You going to provide us with gaming budgets to spend at the Cons?

This card game does sound interesting. Hopefully I'll be able to try out a game at GenCon.
As for Gordy, let's see that stuff in print! Good times to be a fan, good times indeed.

I am on a lot of boards, so it is no rare treat to have me poking my nose in and sounding off
The card game series is a winner though, and when all four are available having them on hand will answer many a gaming need when there's not enough time for a longer one...and they are bound to be fun!
Cheers,
Gary

In related news, I just reviewed the rough art for the first exspansion of the card game and I was just as impressed as I was when I saw the original deck, it looks very nice, very sleek, and very colorful. If the first deck sells as well as hoped we can look into getting the card art for the exspansion finalized and colored.
Now if you will excuse me, let me go find a cattle prod and with it I'll go see if I can get the Trolls street date for the original deck...
