Posting with my iPhone

Post by Dagger »

The wife and I got iPhones for each other for our anniversary. I wanted to make my first ever forum post with it here on my favorite board!

Nope. Now he just has to wait until that "integral, non-replaceable" battery dies on him, just like the early iPod batteries, so he can go blow another $600 to replace it.

you know what will really knock your socks off...

those who use sms on their cell phones, are paying close to $1,000 per MB of transmitted data...
http://www.geekwithlaptop.com/you-might ... b-for-sms/

imagine the hew and cry that would be kicked up if ISP's and web hosting companies charged a grand per meg?

mamma! reason #12,324,112,124,934 why telco's need to be drawn and quartered.

cheers,

I agree! Wireless service providers really need some kind of federal investigation on this stuff. Another good example are activation fees. How do they justify that? It's really just a way to discount the phone price slightly and stick you for the extra anyway.

If your iPhone requires service only because the batterys ability to hold an electrical charge has diminished, Apple will repair your iPhone for a service fee of $79, plus $6.95 shipping.

And now for the satirical 'other' side of the story:

The other side of that story is that the product is clearly advertised as not having a user replaceable battery.

Yes, I love that Maddox website. I remember an article he wrote about Goths that had me laughing so much I cried! He also did one about the different kinds of nerds that was pretty funny too.

By the way... I'm posting with my phone now and just tested his theory on the ellipsis. The numeric/symbols keyboard stays until you switch back to the alpha one. So an ellipsis is only 3 key presses.

Telling what like what is?

How are you comparing the new iPhone to old iPod batteries? Quite a leap in logic.

And why the slam? The guy was happy to be posting with something cool.

Don't worry. I read it. What was the reason for posting about it in a thread where the OP was stoked about using his iPhone?

lets see if I can't help you a bit here.

op: "lookie me... cool"

posters numerous: "cool, groovy, wowsers"

me: "wow, did anyone else know that sms messages cost tons... telco's aught to be drawn and quartered" (note, no reference to iphone)

op'er: i agree

op'er: "wow, did anyone else know that iphones charge money to have their battery replaced"

me: " ya, what's really whack, is some dude has already started a lawsuit against it"

someone else: "funny link on why iphone is a piece of shit"

others: "haha, funny page"

op'er: "yes, but valid point, non-replacable battery is well marked"

me: "[shrug] I don't know why people sue in the first place, just telling it as I see it"

op'er: "that web site is kewl beans... funny crap I did read in the past"

Eisenmann: "grump, fart, gurgle, belch"

so now, you have a concise recap on what this thread was all about... don't recall actually slamming anything.

glad I could help straighten things out...

cheers,

J.

Because it's his right to do so. No reason to be perturbed! It's a legitimate point for sure. I'm interested very much in the product, but I'd like to know all the issues. And yes, there are issues!!

Hokey smokes... just can't figger out why someone would want to rain on someone's parade for no good reason. Guess it's easy to do on the 'net. I'm not really perturbed... just a ruffled sense of etiquette.

Well, glad you're not perturbed then. But I didn't see it as "raining" and since the OP hasn't felt the need to comment, I'll assume he's not upset.

I was surprised to see so much debate on this thread! Quick update: Me and the wife both love our phones and are constantly finding cool new things to do with them. After reading through all the posts, I do want to thank Eisenmann for being the voice of reason here. For the record, I was a little shocked that people were dogging the product in response to my post. I mean, hey, I was excited to post to a forum with it for the first time. However, I was never offended by anyone's comments. I know you guys are all old school RPGers like me and must be decent people! Sometimes the written word comes across in a way more pointed than intended.

Congrats on the iphones and the ability to post on the go in these forums. Im never away from a computer for more than a couple of hours in the day, so Ive stuck with a pretty basic phone rig. Work hasnt stuck me with a Blackberry yet either, which is a bonus.
