SKYPE games:

I've gotten a lot of questions regarding SKYPE -after I started PMing people at random about it .

It's a free voice conferencing program when you use it computer to computer, and makes online gaming 'just like you're all in the same room together'.

Here's the program:
http://www.skype.com/intl/en/

It takes about 1 minute to set up, and you can add my name (kuotoan) to your contacts list.

I'll be running periodic one nighters, so feel free to listen in on these games -or better yet join in- to familiarize yourself with this program.

If not, well, you're really, really missing out on playing C&C with people from all around the world.

I've met many good friends, and have a laugh every few nights in various fantasy settings.

Honestly, it's great, and I'm sure others will voice their support for it.

Help spread C&C...I've introduced so many gamers to C&C through this, and the pool of people is growing.

I've enjoyed using SKYPE to game with Treebore et. all for the last couple of months. It is a fantastic way to "get together" with others and game, especially when there aren't any groups close by.

The Skype install is NOT working for me.

The installer fails every time. I've downloaded it twice with firefox.

OK, I SKYPED up my mac laptop and SlimyK. was kind enough to ring me up and make sure that it was working, which it was. I've added him and treebore to my SKYPE contact list at this point.

You may have to turn off yer antivirus or security suite. Also try DLing it with IE, though I don't know why that would be the problem.

Mucho grassyass.

I used IE and it appears to be working...

Strange though. The download page shows screen shots of firefox.

I wonder if this thread shouldn't be stickied, so those who wish to post there SKYPE IDs can and those who are looking for SKYPE contacts can find them.

I listened in on Treebore's game a bit last night. It sounded like loads of fun but I was getting some garble towards the end and couldnt understand what ppl were saying anymore. Probably has to do with running it on my old Mac laptop. Ill install on my PC and try again later. Sounded like a right fun game from what I did hear of it though.

Well it looks like there wont be a shortage of people with access
I do have a couple of questions about connecting to other users though (I've only used SKYPE one and that was for an international call which lasted a whole 3 minutes).

How do you contact more than one person at a time (I'm sure this is in the FAQ but I'm at work and access is limited)?

Can you transfer files while connected to a conversation (The room looks like this...) or would that involve a seperate program?

Is there a piece of software for dice rolling (ala fantasy grounds?) or is that all done on the Ck side of things (or we roll and just tell you what we rolled)?

Use the conference tab to contect more than one person.

Just click on the person, and a pop up will appear to transfer files.

I use gametable, which is an interactive, online mapping and die rolling application:

Like SLimy says, start a conference call. Up to 9 people can participate.

Can you transfer files while connected to a conversation (The room looks like this...) or would that involve a seperate program?

However, we have found it often freezes up SKYPE, so setting up attached e-mails is better, or another program. Like Gametable.

Like SLimy says, Gametable. Or do like Rigon and I do and trust everyone to roll honestly with their own dice. There are other die roller programs as well.

Sounds good, I'll have to check out the gametable application.

Edit:

Got the gametable thing and the java runtime downloaded, I like the dice roller (esp since you can add your modifiers to it). Pretty easy to learn it looks like.

Just for fun, we all should try to have a SKYPE C&C general BS chat session one of these days or weekends. I'm hearing that the more people in a chat session may slow things down, but it might be fun testing it!!

Hmm, right. I think someone mentioned that only 9 people at a time, but still it could be fun to have impromptu C&C SKYPE chat sessions from time to time.

Sounds good, espescially for testing things out so that we don't waste time learning when we could be playing. Quick chat sessions might be like scheduling an appt with the cable company though...available from xPM to yPM or something like that.

I'm fully SKYPE-capable once again....though I'm extremely hesitant to ask to join since I've bailed like a heel on the last two online games....nevertheless, if you see me online, gimme a shout!

I just ordered a new PC so I can play CRYSIS and it will handle SKYPE better than the current POS so I should be good to go soon.
