GenCon Tel Qa

Post by Treebore »

Just got it. A friend of mine from CA noticed me lamenting not going to GenCon and being able to get this version, and I just got it in the mail from him today, without him ever telling me he got it!

Anyways, James has aboout 250 of these left from GenCon, and I suggest you order one. Its very well detailed, which is very typical of James' work, the larger print makes it much easier to read, plus he added in a lot of material on the Mycretians.

Its an excellently done product jam packed with lots of gaming goodness and Wilderlands flavor! Done under the C&C license! For $10 (US) you can't lose, so get it when you can.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Send an email to james @ adventurepublishingpubs [dot] com

James will take paypal or money order.

My copy just arrive today and I'm looking forward to reading it tonight. The production value is high, and it looks generally awesome.

We need to convince James to do this full time!

Absolutely. JM is a jewel waiting to be found. By that, I mean that XXXI is only a tiny portion of what is possible for the C&C game, and for the Wilderlands. Why o' why can't James do nothing other then write WoHA for C&C?!?!?!

I think he is busy looking for another way to make a living, since he no longer works for SCRYE Magazine, Gamingreport, etc... as of July 27th. I hope he has found one by now. Plus he only sold about 50 copies of XXXI at GenCon, out of the 300+ he paid to have printed up.

So yes, order this from him, because it is good, no, excellent, with high detail, and the way he suggests using this module looks like it can really work.

IE he says to pick a location at random and read the entry and just start the group ased on that location description. I "tested" this a half dozen times and it will definitely work for me. Since I believe C&C CK's are not the type of CK that needs their hands held I am sure everyone will be able to use it the same way, if they so desire.

A very good product with extremely high usage content. Very worth $10 plus shipping.

Thank you all for the very kind words! Please feel free to add any specific feedback in the Wilderlands Player or Judges forums as apporpriate.

At this time, including copies that go in the mail on Tuesday, I have sold a total of 76 copies of XXXI. I have decided against pulping the remainder, and will continue to make them available; late rnext week I will send out a PR to the general gaming public to let them know it is still available (so far I've only posted here, on the Necro board, and on the Acaeum).

As for the future, it is still in flux. I am in fact looking into how I can make Adventure Games Publishing a full-time gig right now, rather than down the road. I still don't know that it is possible at this time... I'm still looking over different models and crunching the numbers...

XXXI is a special preview of what Adventure Games Publishing has to come. XXXI contains:

The complete text of the very-well received Free RPG Day product Imperial Town of Tell Qa: Northern Bastion of the Falling Empire, including 83 locations complete with NPCs, plus details on races, cultures, military defenses, local Mycretian cells, adventure rumors, recent history, and streets and market places, and a gorgeous yet eminently useable map of the town;

20 entirely new and highly detailed random encounters designed specifically for use with Tell Qa;

Complete and revised details on the Mycretians for use with the Wilderlands of High Adventure and Castles & Crusades. Designed as a major foil for the use of the Judge, the Mycretians and their lone god, Mycr, have always been among the most mysterious and interesting protagonists of the Wilderlands of High Fantasy. XXXI presents the Mycretians motives and methods, and three entire Mycretian sects, plus the completely revised Mycretian class along with complete details on all new Mycretian gifts;

The Nguak (humanoid duck) and Liowan (humanoid lion) races for Castles & Crusades.

XXXI weighs in at 48 pages and retails at $10 [PLEASE NOTE: There is a shipping & handling charge if ordering direct. US total comes to $13 per copy, inquire for international shipping rates.]

A Wilderlands product James is doing under license from JG and TLG (because it is C&C based rules).

So far he made a version fo this available on "Free RPG Day', then as a "GenCon special addition" where he enlarged the text font, and added about 10 or so pages of new content.

Considering your love for flavor, Slimy, I bet you would love this. I'd be shocked if you didn't like it, in fact. I would bet you will out right love how James writes his material.

Just F.Y.I., there's a recent Wilderlands thread over at the OD&D Discussion forums.
