I look up to see a Igor employee holding the book he just snatched from my hands. As i look at him like, WTF MAN! This converstation ensues:
Igor toad: "Oh man, i've been looking for one of these."
Me: "Ummm yeah me too."
Igor toad: "Unless you were going to buy it?"
Me: "I won't be buying it now. Enjoy chief!"

And i walked. I didn't even bother asking someone else if they would extend some professional courtesy to another Con Exhibitor. It might of been an isolated incident and i'll give them the benefit of the doubt, but that's not the best first impression for a new customer.

I hate to bust on Serl's boys here, but Crazy Igor and his band of F***hats are the worst. They don't deal, and when you even bring up the thought they give you a $#!4ass look, and more times then not a poor response. Huds0n, I totally hear you. And just to defend myself from an possible post reprisal, I have only dealt with Crazy Igor at conventions.

Sorry, had to comment when I saw Huds0n's post.

That's it, man; game over, man, game over! What the f**k are we gonna do now? What are we gonna do?

I'm not sure how to answer this, since I've never had an LGS that served my needs....

But honestly, I think stores that sell only RPG gaming material are generally too limited in scope to be successful. I think it's a better idea to start a general bookstore, or maybe a toy store. Even the card/board game stores don't seem to do very well.

Most French shops (including my FLGS's) won't order products which are not carried by a French distributor, so I order them from foreign online stores (Noble Knight, mostly).

For example, I've bought most of my C&C books online, because I wasn't able to order them (let alone find them) anywhere in France, locally or online.

I used to shop at my LGS, but I just can't stand the people that work there or hang out there. So I refuse to give them money, and order everything online or at Borders.
